Website name trademark infringement?

Hey everyone,

If you purchased a domain name like www.porschebarn.com could you run into any legal issues from Porsche?
Would love to learn more

Thank you

It's not that cut n dry.

There are variables that would make it legit, or not.

But the question really is, as you noted, could you run into issues with Porsche.

Assume you will.

One thing I've learned over the years, lawsuits rarely determine who was in the right or wrong, rather, they determine who had the better lawyer that day.

The short answer is yes. I guarantee you will run into issues. Porsche (like most companies) aggressively protects their name in these situations. Legally, they essentially have to.

Yes. Al Zim's shop in Texas got sued forever ago for being called Por-Sha

Thing is, you may be OK. But PCNA has waaay deeper pockets and more lawyers than you do.

Short answer, yes you will get a stern letter from Porsche's lawyers in short order.

The Porsche Club of America has been around for over 60 years, and is the single biggest car club on the planet. They have to negotiate permission from Porsche to use the that name in the name of the club. You will never see a story by the club that says bad things about Porsche. No stories of members doing stupid or illegal things in a Porsche.

They are very protective of the trademarked name and they want it to project a positive image only. The even encourage our regional web master and Facebook posts to not have any negative stories.

Thanks for the info guys.

in regards to lawyers. I have none, I want none and I don't really want to deal with them.
love the website name, but it sounds like it will be short lived.
