Any of my friends that tried them snowmobiles had the experience Jeff describes. The don't like cold and don't like sitting for long periods of time.

Don't do it if you ride in cold weather. The cranking power is dependent on temperature. Have you replaced the battery ground cable yet? From what I recall the 900ss could use an upgrade.

Hmm... I have no idea which Odyssey I have, and it's buried in the bike right now. I just took my lead acid battery to my local Pacific Power battery store and matched it up. The Odyssey I bought is pretty much identical in width and height, but is probably a couple inches shorter in length.

Jeff, your experience is not unusual. The first crank is the weakest, as the battery warms from the discharge the amperage output picks up considerably.

I guess it's nice to know that it wasn't something specific to my bike. What an absolutely unacceptable characteristic for a battery. I guess it would be o.k. for a race bike, or race car, where weight is at a premium. For a street application, or for our many powersports toys? Forget it. I'll take the weight hit for reliable starting.

My antigravity battery in my Panamera works fine in the cold.
