People acting the fool....as a bsns owner i'm taking notes

This virus business is bringing the worst out in some people and i'm taking notes. The guy who rolls up in an AMG and says don't expect payment anytime soon, the guy who calls me at 7pm on my cell and gets ignorant about not seeing his stimulus check and he REALLY needs it cause who knows how long the $400k in cash he's sitting on will last, the contractor who is busy NOW and quotes me 2x's the going rate but will be begging for work in a couple months....

To those who are not being jackasses right now i say 'thank you' and will remember. To those who are losing their **** and acting like they are the only person on the planet experiencing some level of stress...i say 'piss off' and will remember.

I feel like we are seeing the truth behind many folks these days from the FedEx guy (ours is a friggin saint and the happiest guy in the world) to Congress and we should all be paying very close attention.

Here, here. Lot of crappy people out there.

A lot of really good people out there.

There is always money to be made if you can discount others.

Having experienced military fellowship and camaraderie, and seeing how some friends and acquaintances have dealt with this crisis both personally and politically, lets just say I know who I want on my side when the shyte hits the fan....

A few of my daughter's co-workers are not sick, but are taking time off just because they can, with pay.

Her boss remarked he knows the people still showing up every day are the ones on which he can depend.
What a difference when it comes time for promotions, advancements and pay increases.
Some just don't get it.

Yeah, it kind of irks me that one guy at work bailed. I work in a semi-essential business. We had an anesthesiologist at our surgery center work one Wednesday, take Thursday off because it was his birthday (OK, I get it), and then tell us he was self-quarantining because his son home from college had a cough or something like that. We've been able to scramble to get coverage for him, including that Friday when he gave us about 24 hours notice. That was about 3 or 4 weeks ago. No word on when he's coming back. Granted he doesn't get paid when he's not working, but from the infectious perspective the rest of us are working in the surgery center and clinic seeing patients, and risking personal/family health. The kid that got into a fight and cut a tendon in his hand, the chick who punched a tree and broke a bone, I can't just tell them to come back in 2 or 3 months once this thing starts to blow over.

Did the tree do something to piss her off? It is a good thing I am not a doctor, I think I would tell her to learn to not punch trees, the tree will win 100% of the time, every time. What a moron.

I have 2/3 of my team working from home. It is pretty obvious who is working vs those who show up to our virtual toolbox meetings and do nothing else. Wait until the fallout from low oil prices skids them to the curb...

I agree with what Craig is saying about who to trust.

We are doing everything we can from a business perspective to support our front line employees. Let's just say I have a few customers that will not be customers in a year based on their behavior.

Stress may not build character, but it reveals it.

We have long used the mantra of fast pay makes fast friends. We have some clients that always want the best bargain and will beg for discounts, and then take 5 months to pay the bill.

We have a few customers that call, ask if they can get, and we just tell them YES, we can get you whatever you want. They never even ask for a estimate, and we bust buns to get their job flown and processed right away. They cut a check within 48 hours of receiving our data and we have our money now. They will always get what they want first. The slow pay slugs, get the slow pay treatment, we get it done, but no weekend work or late night for us.

One client thought we were too expensive and went with a "competitor" that is just a guy with a hobby drone and no background in aerial photography. He delivered a garbage result but dang was it cheap! They wanted us to re-fly it and we told them the new quote was a little higher that the old quote. We delivered a map that made the other guys images look like what it was, garbage.
