Let's twist again like we did last summer..........
We had a tornado come by the house last night. Missed us by about a block or so! Lots of trees either down or twisted off part way up. The yard is a total mess! Anyway, the house was not damaged and the wife and I and the two dogs are all ok which is the most important thing! The last really serious storm I was in was Hurricane Camille that hit the gulf coast in 1969. REALLY don't like those things! Oh, yeah, the power was off for about 12 hours but now (1:00 am) it has been restored.

A friend of mine grew up in Texas...terrified of Tornados. Good to know you & yours are okay. Hope you neighbors fared well?

Wow....that's WAY to close Fred! Glad you were outside the path...it amazes me sometimes....total destruction right beside untouched birdbaths.
Time to fire up the chainsaws.... |

Rest of the world..........
I haven't been more than 2-3 blocks from the house yet. Saw 3-4 houses with fairly large pine trees lying on the roofs, some broken power/utility poles and some trees down across the roads. Just east of us, a currently unused metal warehouse was destroyed and some areas experienced some flooding. I think it is supposed to be good weather for the next few days so that will give folks some time to clean up the mess. The utility crews have been working their butts off since about 3:30 yesterday afternoon and will continue to do so until all the damage is repaired. Now, there is a great bunch of people! No reporting of any deaths here (yet).

They hit a very small area, and devastate it. Drive or walk a 1/4 mile from the path and civilizations is still there. It is not like earthquakes, mud slides or flooding or hurricanes that can devastate entire cities or wide areas. Tornadoes are NOT to be ignored. My wife and I have cell phones with weather alerts. The house alarm system will alert us, and the three networks TV stations go to "wall to wall" constant coverage, no commercials, if a tornado is close to a city. We also have a scaredy hole or tornado shelter in the garage. And it is registered with the city so if the house is gone, they know to look in there if a car or tree is on top of it and keeping us from getting out.
