okay PPOT. outside my area of knowledge. YARN.

my elderly neighbor. she is 91, maybe 92 now.

she loves it when i give her challenging projects. i sent her a pic of a knitted hat that looked like a HOP. that stuff in beer. this guy was wearing it at a beerfest event and it was pretty cool. i snapped a pic of him and gave it to my neighbor. she said, "i think i can do that".

i always make big stews and soups..pretty much all my meals, i make extra for her. i have her back.

i pay her for her knitting, despite the fact that is a millionaire. i need her to stop giving me socks, and distract her with a HOP-BEANIE.

she only said. find some yarn in the right color. you ever shop yarn before? it is like a different language!! i would love to just walk into a yarn shop, but they are all closed around here. maybe a Joanna fabric is open, but i think they are only selling fabric for mask.

What do we know about yarn? i want a real wool one for sure. what kinda wool, weights? arggh?

Can't you just ask her what yarn "type/weight" you should buy? Or, post a pic and I'll get it to my MIL and she can probably tell me (or my wife can) of what you should look for.

thats just it. it sounds like a foreign language. she sent me off with one phrase. get a 4-ply. from what i can tell, wool doenst come labled like that.

she wants to go to the store with me,and that isnt gonna happen. i might just mask and glove up and walk into Joanne today.

this post was mostly an attempt to stump PPOT, which i have not seen happen yet.

My wife knits like crazy. She whipped out over 100 knit caps for underprivileged kids at some local organization. Evey color combo some very much little girl caps, some for boys.

She knitted a bunch of "boobs" for women what had single mastectomies that they can stuff in the one side. From little to huge. Again as a charity thing.

She makes some amazing stuff. Just to occupy her hands and mind.

I've been known to spin a pretty good yarn now and then. Some of them even true.

If you have a picture or pattern she can make it. The knitting pattern makes it simple for her.

I do know that dye lot is critical. I worked a retail job once that had door crashed specials on yarn. The amount of time I spent searching for matching dye lots . . .

This is a pile of the hats she made and donated to the one charity. The ladies knees in the background are the ones accepting the donation. And of course our longhair dachshund on the right always "needs" attention.

Vash, look around on this site:

https://knithacker.com/

They have all sorts of goofy patterns. Like this one:

If you can find the pattern you want, my wife will make it for the cost of the yarn and some postage. The postage is cheap.

Pretty much. My wife has some (tons of them) amazing sweaters that she knitted. Some have entire forest scenes in 3D as part of the design.

We have another stack of warm hats in the spare bedroom that she will donate to the local charity next fall.

You could get the Medusa for your wife while you wear the hop bud!

I suggest you move further north - Humboldt county ...
