Mike Tyson’s Return to Boxing
At 53 there's talk of him coming back... Bad idea! If it happens he'll get smashed & not just physically!
After everything that he's been through he thinks this is a good idea? ![]() To be honest there's a part of me that wants to see him fail and ridiculed. I admired his fighting skill at the time but he's done some disgusting things in the past. The ear biting thing was bad but the rape conviction was on a whole other level. Maybe he needs this to give him purpose but I think he should look elsewhere for that. One things for certain, it will be interesting.

Disclaimer, I'm at work and haven't watched the vid you posted yet. I think the ferocity and speed he displays is pretty impressing. Not sure why you are so sure he'll get smashed? Depends on how good his opponent will be, I guess. He did a lot of dumb stuff way back but I believe he is passed that. I kinda think he's a pretty cool dude, from what I see and read.

No doubt but you'll notice that each action snippet is very short.
![]() If he's dumb enough to climb into the ring against a 20 year old animal he'll soon run out of steam. Meanwhile Evander Holyfield @57! is think about doing the same. ![]()

Snippets are short and, true about the younger guys having an advantage.
But if he hits first and connects, man, that will hurt. I'm looking forward to seeing him in the ring. Maybe they are both training for a charity match, Tyson vs Holyfield? I would be surprised if they are planning a real comeback.

What I have read is Tyson is getting in shape to perform 4 round fights for various charities . Holyfield has stated he would be interested in doing that also .

They are bound to end up in the ring together then, I hope.

This, it is all just to earn some money. Back when he was at his prime he had several matches that were over for his opponent is seconds. I said back then I would let him hit me once for the millions his opponent made.
Even he is not nuts enough to think he has a chance with the top 20 year old boxers. It is just a way to cash in his name.

'Needs' the cash? might be an overstatement.
He's not the half a billion dollar lunatic from before, but he is still a millionaire. And, his recent venture in the agricultural world seems to be a decent steady income too. https://www.republicworld.com/sports-news/other-sports/mike-tyson-opens-up-about-his-cannabis-empire-and-future-plans.html Quote:
If he needs the cash for some reason, charity events are an odd choice, IMO

He could be 85, I still wouldn't get in the ring with him!

Tyson is only 53? I figured him for over 60 at this point. Learn something everyday.

Never cared for Tyson in his prime, and can’t now either. He brought a brutality to the ring that altered the sport of boxing for me. Having done a little boxing in my 20s, I was always thinking footwork, feint, bob and weave, combinations etc and looking for my opponent’s tells. In other words, I approached it as a sport with some element of chess. Tyson brought the red mist. “Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face” pretty much summed it up. That, and his “Robin Givens” answer to the question “what was the best punch you ever threw?”
I was fortunate to have watched the Buster Douglas fight on PPV. The boxer did beat the puncher that night.

He was, and will probably always be, the most terrifying boxer of all time. We have never seen anything like him before or since. Yes, boxing is "the sweet science", and there can be real beauty in watching two skilled fighters, especially in the lighter weights where no one has his kind of dominating power and aggression. He really did shock the boxing world, and absolutely changed how his opponents had to prepare to meet him. And, in the end, he was very entertaining to watch, even if only for a round or two. In a "Christians to the lions" kind of a way...
I wish him all of the best. He is clearly not the sharpest tool in the shed, and many took advantage of him along the way, making their fortunes on his back. He does seem to have genuinely changed, as if he actually did learn something along the way, in his "school of hard knocks". I just hope he doesn't get hurt, and wind up like Ali or something...

I've got all his early boxing matches on VHS tape..............The main betting on his matches were if his opponent would last the first round or not.
Higgins, we should have a Tyson viewing Party
