Don't forget Whirlpool and GE. I think those brands are all made by the same company.

Whirlpool and Kitchenaod have the least repairs. Kitchenaid is a Whirlpool with luxury features.

Go with the cheaper, old style, low tech ones. They last forever.

We’ve been using FridgeAire for the last two years. Installation and reliability are terrible.

Avoid any LG or Kenmore. Search on their compressor lawsuits...

Thx for the heads up...

Had a GE from 1990 to 2016..door seals..replaced once..

Got a 22.5 cuft Roper which is a off name Whirlpool. For $180 wt a GE electric stove. Cut operation cost to apx 30 a month and it keep stuff colder than Pelosis tit.

Problem is th small freezer..i like to by a bunch when on sale.. so a stand alone freezer might not be a bad idear..

Upright self defrost..

You could get a a chest or sm upright fpr around 200 to 250 at Sams. Lately outa stock..

With the change in refrigerants, I was told by a sales guy that the internal corrode out in 7-12 years for all of them.

I have a 30 year old freezer that is inefficient as hell but was a hand me down and works like a charm.

Trade offs.

Most are charged with R600a or isobutane.
Never heard anything bad about this refrigerant other than it is flammable and the refrigerant charge is limited to 150g.
I have a small Kenmore chest freezer. Think it is 10 or 12 years old. Keeps stuff frozen.
Doesn't jam up the wood chipper when you feed the body parts in frozen.....

We are on our second chest freezer and i don't honestly recall the brand. First one died and we found out by noticing the river of blood running out of the garage. Had a 1000' baited (chicken necks) trot line that thawed. Ugh!

If i were to do it over again i'd get a stand up for the simple reason that it's easier to find stuff without having to empty out half the food.

My parents had a chest deep freeze that was well over 40 years old and still working grate when dad gave it away because he was tied of bending over to find the ice cream. He replaced it with an upright.

That old freezer made over 16 moves and was out in the detached garage for the last 25 years and survived 110 heat and some near freezing weather. They did heat the garage to keep it just above freezing.

i have an agreement with the wife. i ever tip over a big animal, i am suppose to call her and she gets a chest freezer delivered and plugged in while i drive home.

so far, i have not needed to make the call. i should just become vegan at this point.
