I bet the astronauts are ready too, isolation since early March must be tough.

Thank you to all the smart Californians who make Space X go
IMO, the flag should be the Cali bear and not the stars & stripes

Yeah, screw all those other Space-X guys in FL, TX, WA, etc.

Godspeed! Not a fan of Tesla or Musk, but I’m a huge Fan of the USA. Hope all goes smoothly and we can reestablish our leadership in manned space exploration.

Don’t care to give the Russians $75 million per astronaut to go to the ISS, which was mostly assembled using the Space Shuttle heavy lift. Apparently the last ride the Russians gave us cost $90 million.

Clear skies, safe flight.

Scott Douglas 05-27-2020 09:49 AM

How's the weather looking down there?
Earlier this morning my wife said there's only a 40% chance they'll go today and Saturday didn't look much better.

Sorry, I just finished mowing the yards so haven't had a chance to look.

Bob Kontak 05-27-2020 10:12 AM

I'm a little nervous because we have not launched a crew for a while.

4:33PM EST is scheduled launch.

masraum 05-27-2020 10:15 AM

If it launches today, Baz'll probably watch from his yard. My mom will probably watch from her place too.

Nice. How cool would that be?

Saw the shuttle after re-entry over Houston around 2000. "Exhaust" plume was orange and it was hauling. Next day folks watching the news said they were told to check it out, they saw it, went back inside the house and it was landing.

I didn't know what it was.

Scott Douglas 05-27-2020 10:39 AM

Not looking too good weather wise.
There's a tornado warning just north of the cape right now.

KFC911 05-27-2020 10:54 AM

Will this be on OTA stations (CBS, ABC, NBC) and is it like a rainout Nascar race at Daytona? Like there's not a snowballz chance of them launching....but they're not gonna tell us until dark ;)?

From what I have read.....the shoe will be on the other foot at some point and they will be getting rides from us!

The two biggest factors that will impact the decision to launch today are electrical energy in the area and bad weather at the abort sites.

Fingers crossed........

astrochex 05-27-2020 11:12 AM

The President has landed at the Cape.

Don't worry, the PARF will be coming, between the hatred for Musk, Tesla, NASA...

I do love that our astronauts are named Bob and Doug. It's like a sitcom. I bet they snuck a six pack of tallboys onboard...

I'd be more nervous that Musk was in charge of building it. I hope the quality control is better than the Tesla 3.

Scott Douglas 05-27-2020 11:55 AM

They're loading propellant!

Everything else was built by the lowest bidder. Can't be much worse.

GH85Carrera 05-27-2020 11:58 AM

Less than an hour to go.

It will be interesting to see how well the touch screen displays work under the vibration of launch. I have tried to use the touch screen in my wife's Macan she drove. When a bump is hit, it is really hard to push the right icon. I suspect they have to have a few real buttons and switches to make it easier under vibration. I feel sure the engineers have tried to simulate a rough ride.

Scott Douglas 05-27-2020 12:02 PM

The astronaut they just had on Discovery said the ride on this rocket is a lot smoother than that of the Shuttle. He said the solids on it were really rough. We'll see.

Baz 05-27-2020 12:15 PM

Sounds like weather might cause a delay til Saturday but will probably know within next 5 min.

red-beard 05-27-2020 12:17 PM

Bummer

javadog 05-27-2020 12:18 PM

Scrubbed.

RNajarian 05-27-2020 12:18 PM

You gotta admit, the video from the inside of the spacecraft is impressive.

GH85Carrera 05-27-2020 12:18 PM

Scrubbed for today. :(

Baz 05-27-2020 12:18 PM

Scrubbed at T minus 16m, 54s.......

Next attempt will be on Saturday.

JackDidley 05-27-2020 12:19 PM

Launch scrubbed.:(

expatriot98 05-27-2020 12:40 PM

The announcers were total BS. Buncha Millennial wussrags with lattes and half pink hair. Where in the hell are Gene Kranz and the serious rocketmen?

Bob and Doug? For God sakes.

Sorry. Bill Kaysing passed away in 2005.

onewhippedpuppy 05-27-2020 01:11 PM

Sad it was scrubbed, hope Saturday goes off without a hitch.

Por_sha911 05-27-2020 01:27 PM

Typical Elon Musk project: doesn't meet announced deadline

Cajundaddy 05-27-2020 01:29 PM

Weather scrub, no technical issues. Try again Saturday.

!pse203 05-27-2020 01:46 PM

Why do they do this in FL? Seems there are weather concerns more often than not...

I'm guessing it's partially so that if there's a big boom, stuff lands in the water instead of on people. The weather in FL is generally pretty good, but then I think they need better than that to launch.

Closer to the equator. It's why the Europeans launch from French Guiana.

Musk is building his launch facility down at the southern tip of Texas for the same reason.

Interesting - surprised a couple of hundred miles would make a difference given the overall distance.

Water proximity makes sense if stuff goes wrong.

flatbutt 05-27-2020 03:10 PM

Here's hoping Godspeed to our star voyagers but Musk is number two on my list of really bright guys that I dislike.

Wouldn't that be great?

One thing to note, the Falcon 9 with the Dragon crew can just barely do the job. That is why there was only a one minute window for the launch. Very little margin.
