CD55. i might be going to OR soon. i'll bring you back loads..tax-free.

the PETA and MAKE PEACE NOT war sticker on my truck keeps me from getting searched.

Why not go to the store and buy it there?

The store can order for you online or you can drop ship to them, if I recall correctly. Yes, PITA but the store will make a few bucks.

Have you been to a gun store recently? Lines out the door. At least around here. I waited almost two hours to take the test and I prepaid the day before. Then I’d have to wait in another line for ammo. Forget about buying a 9mm semi pistol. No inventory anywhere. It doesn’t help matters that the National Guard was called into the neighboring town last week. Then there’s talk about defunding police...

This too shall pass. Visit CalGuns for sale forum, you will need to do the ammo transfer at a FFL, but it is available for a price. Once stuff settles down is the time to stock up for times like this.

Shelves are generally bare around here as well. But as others have said, you stock up between moments of chaos not during.

aigel 06-10-2020 04:06 PM

No, I haven't tried to go to a gun store. Generally not going anywhere I don't have to, so sorry I didn't know it was that hard. Is this true for all gun stores or could you drive to some slower parts of the Bay Area? I can ride past my local joints if you like to see if they have lines.

I take it you bought the gun and now don't have ammo to practice or was there not even ammo to set you up for a defense situation? Just so you know, while everyone will want to put hollow points etc. for their defense ammo, full metal jacket will outperform your pocket knife any day. ;)

Prolly the worst time to buy. I would try a cabelas in the next state, or small gun shop. Call ahead.

The big retailers are getting in shipments, but + 50$ a case inflated. I'll wait until trump wins in November. LOL if he doesn't. They'll will be a huge run again

CLASSIC ARMS ..has Red Star 9mm for @ .20 a round.

Went to a very small local gun shop in Santa Clarita, Ca after going to Wallymart, and the local gun range, which were pretty much out of everything.

Wanted to by 410 defender and .45 FMJ Long Colt, show my D/L, he says its not one of the "Approved" ones like you need to get on an airplane. So bring back your passport, OK, I'm 15 minutes away. No schit, I went to renew it and made an appointment at the DMV in Palmdale, 50 miles away, I brought my passport, but missed that I needed one or two more items like a utility bill or two (junk mail with my name and address on it doesn't count, so as long as I'd driven 50 miles and waited an hour, even with an appointment, I said fcuk it, I'll take the regular D/L and bring my passport if I get on another plane, until its convenient for me to go back to the DMV.

Got back and it turns out I also have to be on the CA, Doj website as having a gun registered at the address on my D/L, so no sale, I moved two years ago. So I go on the CA DOJ website and register/log my S&W, M/P 40 which I bought while at my old house. They'll let me know if I'm "OK" to buy ammo in a few weeks.

Fcuk it, I'm driving to South Dakota in three weeks in the biga$$ RV, I'll buy what I want in NV, AZ, UT, ND, SD or MT.

BTW, google "CFARS" and the CA DOJ registration site will be the first hit.

This is kind of stupid.

Wait a second, was that supposed to be in green?
Someone in California needs a full auto real machine gun permit just to pump off a couple off in the yard to scare off potential intruders?

Hugh, the shelves in AZ are not well stocked. Ammo has gotten crazy expensive, IF you can find it. I bought a 1000 round case of Sellier & Belloit 9mm in March for $150. That's now over $300 IF you can find it. Fortunately, I ran into a guy this week who has a home reloader connection. His friend's husband recently passed away with 100k rounds of high-quality reloads. I snatched up 2k rounds of 9mm for $370 and 1k of .45ACP for $300 this week. I'll get more when he heads over there next. But you will pay top dollar plus sales tax for anything you find in a brick and mortar store in AZ.

If you have exact dates you'll be in AZ, I can probably round stuff up for you on Armslist.

red-beard 07-10-2020 05:52 PM

If you end up in Houston (I do not recommend it right now!), one of my neighbors is a FFL specializing in ammo.

Arizona_928 07-10-2020 06:06 PM

I bought a few cases of Russian crap from sportsman guide for the normal pricing.

cantdrv55 07-10-2020 07:30 PM

I camped out at Big 5 tonight because they were getting deliveries. I was able to buy 400 rounds of 9 mm, NOT on sale. It was $0.30 per. That’s the going rate nowadays.

(But the Class 3 works as well.)

That is actually a 03 on the c&r... Type 3 is a normal license...

A gun without ammunition is a complicated rock
