anybody have a blow up paint booth ?

Saw a couple of Youtube reviews and for around $1k I'm giving it some consideration.
Anyone try one ? I posted over in the paint and bodywork section but got no response.

if you have a big space like an unused garage, just hang plastic sheeting and tape it together

for a lot less than #1,000

Get a bunch of cheap harbor freight type tarps. They come in large sizes to minimize the joints that would need to be sealed. You could even zip tie them to a rudimentary wood frame if you were painting outdoors. The structure would have to be strong enough to withstand wind/rain, but you get the idea.

holy crap- these prices aren't bad for the size tarp they are.

This! I've done this several times to paint both cars and motorcycles. cut out a section on one side and tape a furnace filter to it for intake and cut out a section on an opposite side to fit a fan for the exhaust.

I paint in my 2 car garage.
I just leave the garage door open and paint, no plastic on the walls etc.
With the car in the center of the garage, no overspray reaches the walls.

I watched a video as well. One guy complained of sweating so much he dripped it on the paint. Also looks like there is a lot of clean-up involved of over-spray which is increased by a general lack of airflow. He did paint a full size pickup in black base coat though. You will have some of that but you don't need it in the clear coat so probably hose-downs between paint types.

Here's the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kSiRKpgzzdM Audio is poor but discernible.

Can you tell us what you have available to work with? Guessing you don't have a big shop but neither do I. I have a 15 foot width. I do not have a concern with paint dust getting on my toolbox or keyboard - that makes life easier.

I will paint this 65 Intl pickup right where it's sitting. Fan at the door blowing out. Lowest body panel is two feet off the ground so that's cheating a little. HVLP, quiet warm/hot day and a clean gun. A 911 is half the trucks size.

Before I spray the single stage with hardener I will clean with the focus more on the truck than the shop. Dust on the tables is not going to reach the truck spraying only 25-30 psi. I'll wet down the floors.

Depending on what space you have it may or may not be the answer. Also if it's 30 degrees outside and very humid, I don't think it you can overcome that assuming it's sitting outside.

Well I had a couple of beers first and... oh wait, I thought you asked if anyone “blew up a paint booth”. Never mind, forget I said anything... Carry on.
