Being RIGHT.

Can you be satisfied just knowing you are right?

Or do you need the other person to know they are wrong?

Just curious. My wife and I are exact opposites.

Hint: my wife is always quoting the Dalai Lama.

I'm usually satisfied knowing I'm right. Sometimes, I've "overthunk" it and have come to know whatever position or decision is the result of intelligent "research," consideration, and weighing of all the facts available.

If the facts were somehow tainted or incomplete and I find that out later (and I'm not just talking about political stuff), I'm not going to be stubborn... I'll admit I was wrong. Or partly wrong.

And then there's that good ol' excuse/reason "it seemed like a good idea at the time."

I can't quite tell what you're implying with your statement about the Dolly Llama, but I wish you would give us to more. Spell it out, mannnnn.

Going for the laugh here:

Happiness is a variable value.

Rightness is binary. You're Right, or your Not. No in between.

I know this, because I'm Right. I'm pretty Happy too, but that's less Important.

When you're right you know it and it doesn't matter what other people believe.

.... Life is too short to worry about what other people think.
What your family thinks of you is important but it's not worth arguing over some minor details.

My "German GF" always wants to be right and she's always in conflict with her 17 year old son. No thank you.

My father said to me just once... No one can force you to do anything but they can make you wish you did.

My wife, when our argumentative teen son (the oldest of two) used to try to get her/us to change her/our mind about something she/we told him to do or not do would say, "This is not negotiable."

That was usually the end of the discussion.

Being okay with not having definitive answers is seen as being “soft” these days.

I am more than happy to admit when I have made a mistake. It means I have learned something.
One day I will find I have become incredibly smart. Isn't that how the process works?
I just seem to learn I knew less and less.

I remember my father saying,"The man who never made a mistake, never did anything."

Best

TABS would be the one to provide the answer to that question.

My dad's quote was "Never in doubt, sometimes in error". I always like the line I thought I made a mistake once, but I was wrong.

I'm satisfied with letting the other person know they are wrong and then letting it go. Whether they believe me or not is up to them.

I don't think being right coupled with landing your "rightness" in a personal relationship carries benefits. But on the upside, it builds resentments.

"Big hitter, the Lama..."

I wasn't really familiar with the The Dalai Lama, himself. Twelfth son of the Lama. The flowing robes, the grace, bald... striking. So...

https://www.azquotes.com/author/8418-Dalai_Lama

I can't imagine making sure someone knew they were wrong when I was right. If you are truly right, everyone ones who needs to knows and you only diminish your accomplishment by pointing out your fortune.

But in my favorite sport if you guess right 30% of the time you end up in the hall of fame.

STFU and get back to work...you'll be up again soon.
