I started texting years ago because of my kids who are now 28 to 40. We also use Messenger to send photos back and forth. I do hate group texts that go on forever and finally figured out you can mute them. It can save time for sure. My friend group will organize an evening in a few minutes with a few texts. "you all going to pizza tonight", "yep, what time", 6:30?, "great, see you there"

For work I text all the time along with sending photos. It's just the way things are done.
I hate talking on the phone. Co workers make fun of me because my conversations are pretty much rapid fire "Uh huh...yep....ok....ok....bye!". I have some supervisors who only want to communicate by text. They feel avoiding all the extraneous dialogue that goes along with a phone call saves them a few hours a day. We are on the phone a lot. |
The real difference is what type of conversation is it?
With most of my buddies, like most men, we get to the point, and skip all pleasantries of how are you and the family and the other stuff that is just fluff. A text is perfect for that, ask question, get answer. Back in the olden days when I dated, and I called a new chick we might talk on the phone for a few hours of pure random stuff on zero importance just to get to know one another. I am not going to have a conversation via text. Talking is faster. |

I hate talking to people on the phone. Texting is fine especially with the younger generations Texting with a tenant right now. His roommate is moving out, and his gf is moving in. Roomie wants his deposit back, GF says not until she signs a lease. My property mgr is new ad overwhelmed. Fourth mgr in 14 months.

I text with texters and talk with talkers. When I text, I talk to the phone and it does the texting. My fingers dont work that well and really see no need when the phone does it for me.
