Similarly sad.
You could live in New Zealand and have some fresh fruit labeled as perishable, and sent by PBT Peter Baker Transport - then arrive two weeks later rotten. |

Surly you understand the "rules" of anything to be shipped to you.
The more you want it, or need it, just raises the odds that is will be delayed and chances of it lost or destroyed are high. If it is a unimportant item or something you really don't care much when it arrives, it will be there overnight. We are working on re-sealing the grout on the tile floors in the kitchen and the showers. My wife ordered the stuff to do it. The brush, cleaner and the sealant all showed up fast. The bottle with the llttle wheel dispenser that we use to apply the sealant took a week to arrive. No point in starting the process until the sealant can be applied. One other item she ordered just because she wanted to get it on had was supposed to arrive it three days. It was dropped off at 7:30 the next morning. |
All of the courier companies have slowed down their service and blame COVID.
You still pay for rush, just don't get it. Canada Post has been pathetic. They were just stating to get back some market share back and then the been counters decide slow makes more money. |
the kind lady at Bass Pro shop kinda agreed with me about FedX.
she is re-sending my order, no questions asked. if my original one shows up, i will return it willingly. i asked if we should wait a few days, and she said, "oh, no..lets redo this now". i suspect she knows the odds. |

we refer to fed ex as My Crazy Ex. shipping from either is about the same.
i just ordered some sneaks from nike. shipping option was my crazy ex. they promised tuesday delivery and they didn't disappoint. it came tuesday. driver exits the van with no package but carrying flip flops. rings bell. i answer door, takes sneaks off his feet puts on flip lops, hands me the sneaks and says here you go! |
^^^ Lol, that's awesome!
|
package declared out for delivery yesterday and now tracking says it's back to being delivered before the 15th with no other tracking data available.
|
They all are terrible at this point. USPS 2 day priority?.. Nope. Car is apart, ordered from Chris at TurboKraft last Tuesday and he shipped that day. The 2-day is now package has one week and counting- it has meandered to Puerto Rico where it stayed until yesterday, which is the last known sighting. Why they would go from AZ > NY via Puerto Rico only the ‘gubmint knows.
There’s not even a projected date of delivery at this point. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1600188889.png |

As I mentioned earlier, I've been using FedEx every week for the last 20 years. Very, very few problems.
I'm not saying I don't believe you guys. I do. But the bulk of my shipments are shipped "Hold for Pickup" at a FedEx location. And just last week, my work sent out a notice to us all to use the Hold feature instead of home delivery due to the home delivery "on-time" numbers for FedEx are in the 70% range. And the only time I see damage is due to poor packaging. If they were more strict on how folks pack their stuff, there'd be less damage. And I know how to pack stuff. I worked shipping/receiving in the semiconductor industry for 2 years. It may sound simple, but things need to be really secured to survive the rigors of transit. It's not a bunch of white-gloved surgeons handling the boxes. :D Nor is it the gorilla from the suitcase commercial. Someplace in the middle of those.....maybe more one direction than the other, but still. Oh, and I'll prob use the "my crazy ex" thingy. Too funny. |
Just got a box of wood veneer glue and a gauge for my vacuum press this morning via FedEx- no issues at all.
Of course immediately thought of this thread when I got notice that FedEx was the shipper. |
The last three things shipped to me through FedEx were delivered to the wrong houses. The packages show up in their system as "delivered" and they don't even want to discuss the fact that they were delivered to someone else, not you...or that you sat there all day and the item just did not come. As soon as tracking shows "delivered" I have to drive the neighborhood...searching for a package in a yard or on a porch. If you can even manage to talk to a human (as their system is designed to not allow anyone through with a tracking number that shows "delivered"...they tell you that they can't help...but you can ask the person shipping it to file a claim. They are the worst.

Got a chrome bar stool coming FedEx. Surprised, since I bought on Amazon and they usually ship UPS or USPS, but I guess it's because it's a 3rd party seller.
|
Delayed a day. I’m okay with that. Better than missing.
|
Got my door striker repair kit this morning. One day earlier than expected. It was left on my driveway.
|
Got a package coming 2-day air by Fedex...will need another two days to find it after they deliver it somewhere else.
|
i got a parcel via UPS and it arrived from the east coast two days before declared when i ordered it. granted it was to arrive on a monday and showed on the fridee before.
part of the problem where i am is FE contracts with a carrier and the hub the packages are collected from is about 75 miles away. the carrier i believe is to blame as it's like they give up part way through the day not making it up the hill far enough to me. in the last year ive had the "out on the truck for delivery" at least 5-6 times only to have the status change and them adding 5 more days to the delivery window. the loss, and subsequent recovery of the quad snow blade topped it all. three packages, two arriving late and the blade lost for a week. they delivered it to the indian casino a few miles from me. if not for a tenacious vendor who did not want to ship another FE would have given up on it completely. |
Got a funny one!
Ordered tubes for my Harman Kardon A300, After reading this post. I ordered them. They used FedEx? I wondered? Well 7 business days passed by and I got a call from a neighbor down the street about 2 miles down the road. Had"The Tubes!" "White Punks on Dope!" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJDQFLLdZ_k That's close enough? The tube company put my phone number on the invoice, thank goodness, and the neighbor called me. I picked them up. Cool guy. I see your point! |
Still 100% fail. No delivery! And they took off my delivery date from the website.
Faack. |
A LOT of issues come from the senders... They prepare a label (which generates shipping times, etc.) but then they don’t drop it off to get shipped for another day or two to three so the dates keep changing..
|
Ordered a package on the 21st. They shipped it same day via UPS.
"2-5 business days" advertised. UPS tracking claims handing it off to my local Post Office on the 24th. Problem is, the USPS says it's on the manifest but was never actually physically received. |
UPS just delivered my new Odyssey PC925 2 days early, on a Saturday.
Bar stool shipped on Tuesday via FedEx still not here, and tracking just says "shipped". #### |
FEDEX did not DISAPPOINT!! i kid you not, the status showed "out for delivery" for three days. i never got it!! i finally clicked "leave it at location". they are trying to find out why the driver held it in his rig for three days. and get him to pull it and drop it off at the Downtown location ASAP.
this is effen ridiculous. at this point, i am so over it. several hundred dollars of fishing rods bouncing around on a mystery tour. EFF FedEX. i hate them. hate hate hate. |
^^^ How can they not notice a 7' long tube!

an ahem..its a 7.5' long tube :D |

Fedex flat out sucks monkey balls.
The contractor driver system they use is certainly a part of the problem BUT the distribution center near me seems to be the main issue. They just sit on stuff for days. Then load half of it on the truck. They are almost perfect in their inability to deliver to me on time. |
Mine shows in transit for a week, but it still hasn't left California.
|
just use Railway Express

historical reference
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Railway_Express_Agency the subsidized train freight was killed off by the subsidized Interstates |
Hahah, so far, at least, I get my stuff when shipped via FedEx (seems to be Home Depot's preferred vendor), but their predictions on arrival time are the worst. I can see that the stuff isn't going to arrive when they say it will, why can't their algorithm see that it's wrong.
Something shipped near Dallas. It gets picked up yesterday. Last night, I get an email that says "delivery tomorrow by end of day." And the tracking says "departed Hutchins, TX at 12:01am." I figure "seems unlikely, but it could happen, it's only 5-6 hours. This morning it still says the same thing. Yep, no way in hell. It still says today, but the latest update still says "In Transit, FT Worth, TX, 12:18pm." So it took 12 hours to travel 40ish miles? The funny thing is that it says "it's getting there early (today). Original delivery estimate Thu, Jul 29." Maybe the issue is like you're always told in school, go with your first thought, don't second guess yourself. |
I've got a decent history of receiving stuff whether it's USPS, UPS or FedEx. < knock on wood >
UPS is also very accurate WRT delivery date estimates. USPS, is OK. It gets there when it gets there, but they are pretty speedy for the price. FedEx is hopelessly optimistic. Honestly, they've got to be 90% where they are a day later than their predicted delivery date. You'd think that they would just stick a "+1" on the end of their delivery date algorithm and call it good. |
