I ordered two cymbals and two stands from Sweetwater. They only use FedEx. I ask for UPS but it costs a lot more. I get assurances from my sales rep so OK FedEx.

I get the notice that FedEx picked up three packages on the 14th. Today they delivered only one!

They picked up three at the same time but I only get one. WTF?

Reordered through Amazon again and this time the item is coming via UPS!!!

Actually I reordered through CarID as I item showed in stock. Notified via email that shipper had created a UPS label 10/8. As of today (11 days later), item still has not shipped.

I forgot to order a water pump gasket with my water pump (in case it wasn’t included) and paid for two day delivery on Wednesday. It came today, Saturday.

My $8 gasket cost $25 and was late.

Edit: I think only genuine BMW water pumps don’t come with a gasket. All the OEM’s did but I wanted a factory pump.

My rim I ordered was supposed to be delivered Fed Ex Wednesday before last. I can’t even track it as their system tells me No delivery date set. I went to the local Fed Ex office and talked to an employee that said my situation is common. Where I live the drivers own the routes and if it’s a long day or they feel they are not making money on a delivery they just won’t do it. Hell, I can’t even will call it because they don’t know where my rim is. F- this. I’m canceling the order. The seller chose Fed Ex and Um getting the run around. Never Fed Ex again!

Just to provide an update on my FedEx now UPS saga on engine stand originally ordered in March first through CarID cancelled due to item NLA then through Amazon when FedEx lost the pkg then back through CarID. Item finally received today from UPS. It looks like the package took an IED in Afghanistan on its way here. Box all taped up and all internal packaging open and destroyed. All hardware bags busted upon and half of the hardware was missing. All metal parts suffered paint damage as they were rolling around loose in the 88 lb box. Claim filed. Here we go again!

Exterior box damaged on bottom and taped up after internal parts were lost.

All painted components severely scratched, scraped and peeling

All internal packaging, boxes and small parts bags were destroyed. All remaining nuts bolts and washers were loose in the box. An absolute mess!

Ordered a part for the BMW Monday night with overnight shipping and Wednesday delivery. FedEx says it was delivered, but I was 20 feet away from the front door and the surveillance camera did not record a delivery.

When you absolutely have to have it, be prepared to be disappointed.

It behooves me to add my name to the list of the disgruntled when it comes to fedex. A "heads-up" to the boys in shipping (no reflection upon them): fedex has a proclivity for unnecessary & (IMHO) bogus charges for us north of the 49th - dhl ain't that great either - might be some 'covid related' thing. I've had occasion to deal with both companies shipping parts from Pelican in the last 3 weeks & found both to be wanting.

Cheers
JB

I ordered a couple things from Rennline. They apparently ship via Fed-Ex. Both boxes shipped at the same time. One got temporarily delayed, but made it here yesterday (fully intact), about a week-and-a-half after shipping. The other package (sent at the same time, same size, etc) is stuck in New Mexico.

rattlsnak 12-09-2021 08:12 PM

Use FedEx Express instead of Ground. Cost a little more but rarely any issues with them.

Ordered a new cell phone for my son.... delivery by fedex - was supposed to be delivered on the 8th.... it arrived to the local distribution site on the 5th..... out for delivery today..... the 10th

ordered some other gifts for him as well - they came via UPS - expected delivery 9th... they arrived on the 7th

On a positive note I ordered a pair of aluminum loading ramps for my car trailer . Fed Ex tracking was accurate with timely updates . They were delivered to my rural address last night as expected . Box was in perfect shape as were the ramps inside . So they can get it right 😊

Well, that's true with my experience noted above, too. Two identical boxes, shipped from VT to CA, at the same time. One arrived within a couple days of expected delivery. The other got stuck in IL for 4 days, and now is hanging out in NM for a couple more. I just think that the longer a box is in transit, the greater the chance that some trauma may befall it.

HORRAY!! I ordered a bunch of California State park day use passes to give to friends as gifts.

they were supposed to ship to me Monday. I get home yesterday, Thursday to find a note saying they attempted delivery. they left me a note with a section that I could PRE-Sign, but it was scratched out with a big N/A. I have to be home!! hahaha..

what a mess. funny..they are not going to attempt a new delivery today (according to their website and tracking number). they will try Monday. I bet anyone a crispy $1 bill they try today..or Tuesday.

ahhhhh.. FedEX..

That thing looks like the packaging sucked from the start.

Stopped clock and all that...

Yes, I've had some good deliveries from FedEx, and I think the person that delivers to my home address is top notch once they get the packages. Many/most of the time they put cardboard boxes in plastic bags in case it rains.

Bah, you're the boss. just take a couple few days off.

Agreed, you'll get home today to find another note, this time it'll probably say that you've got to go to the regional distribution center to retrieve your part. I'm sure that location is going to be 30-40 miles away through heavy traffic.

A930Rocket 12-17-2021 06:08 PM

Can’t remember if I posted this or not, but I ordered some BMW M3 caliper rebuild kits on eBay. Unfortunately, I did not realize they were coming from Europe. They’ve been stuck in GB customs via Royal Mail for over a month.

Edit: The only reason I did buy them, was because they had the pistons in the kit, not just seals and boots.

The way PBT ( Peter Baker Transport ) here in New Zealand took two weeks to deliver fresh fruit has given me a fun new idea. I think I'll send some fresh fish and see how they feel about that sitting around in their warehouse because they can't be bothered delivering it.

A package is at my front door addressed to somebody else. It says to refrigerate after opening.

I’m tempted to open it to see what it is….

I work in IT. Stuff fails. It is usually redundant, so we're not down because of a simple failure. Either the system phones home, or we open a ticket with the vendor, and they'll send up a replacement part. Usually FedEx overnight 10:30 delivery. Lately, nothing has made it here in one day. It usually gets to the local distribution point overnight, but then it sits until someone gets around to delivering it. Today I'm waiting on a replacement drive that was supposed to be here by 10:30 yesterday.

It's not just FedEx.
UPS has a separate division called UPS Logistics, which is just people in cars and vans that will deliver something, usually same day.

I had another drive fail in a different system late last year. Not a big deal except I had a software upgrade scheduled for the following Tuesday, and the system won't kick off the upgrade if there's a failed part.

The part failed Friday night. I get it, nobody around to deal with it over the weekend, even though usually the monitoring people are working offshore. We called them Monday looking for a status update, knowing the upgrade was looming, and they said they'd get a drive right out. Except the guy on the other side of the state that had a drive didn't get it to the courier, so that one didn't go. Called again and they dispatched another one from Des Moines IA, except there was a storm and the courier didn't pick it up. They dispatched a third drive from near Chicago, but there's no way that one was going to get here on time. We missed the upgrade, but luckily were able to reschedule for Thursday. Wednesday Drive 1 shows up. It's bad. Worse, apparently nobody ever wrote a routine to handle the insertion of a bad drive, and the whole thing locks itself up for about 30 minutes while it waits on a timeout on the new drive. I wait until Wednesday night, pull that drive and put in drive number 3, which arrived late Wednesday afternoon. That one works, we're good to go for Thursday. Thursday drive number 2 shows up, I hung onto it a couple days. We had a similar code upgrade to do on a different system, and I figured it was better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.

Memphis just had a huge 2-3 day ice storm. Only 10% of FedEx's flight got out. Crews/planes were stuck at all the out stations..Going to take another day or so to get back on track..

HardDrive 02-03-2023 10:04 PM

I have to be honest, FedEx is pretty good for us. But we are in Columbus, OH, a huge distribution center.

ErVikingo 02-04-2023 10:45 AM

FedEx was supposed to deliver a package here yesterday 10:20-14:40

that became before end of day, that became today 10:40-14:40

The delivered inside the new time (5 minutes ago). I had to tell the guy that the placed the packages diagonally when they clearly says IN RED TOP and Package must remain flat at all times; No Stacking. (printed on the box).

Reason they were delivering is that they were damaged in shipping (can you guess) and had to go back to the OEM for repairs.

You would think that the label that says "insured for $10,000" would give them an idea.

Let's hope they work this time around (tube amps).

.

I can promise you that nobody reads what is printed on the box at any carrier.. They have a million boxes going through the sort on a daily basis that all have been used 10 tens over with stuff printed all over them. They scan the bar code at the beginning and at the end and the loaders in the middle stack/throw it in the truck/plane however it fits.

GH85Carrera 02-07-2023 05:35 AM

FedEx and all the other shippers are able to determine your need of an item. The more desperate or critical it is to you, the more delays they add in. If it is just another item to be put on the shelf for stock and your eventual use in the future, it will show up ahead of schedule, and in pristine condition.

It is like magic how they all can read the need.

I had a package delivered to my front door via UPS that was labeled and addressed to a business about 3 miles away from my house. There street name, and address were all totally different, and the business is a local tire shop franchise. My house does not remotely look like a tire shop.

I looked up the phone number of the shop and told the manager, the package was delivered here. He asked that I bring it over, and I explained I am a nice guy, but not that nice. Just send over a mechanic or employee of the store, and I will happily give it to them. About an hour later a guy showed up, and took it. He was the mechanic doing a brake job on a customer car, and the car had been stuck in the shop for two days waiting on the proper part. He did not specify what car and why they did not get it locally, but the customer was paying for a rental car as they fixed the brakes. So UPS had cost them an additional day of rental.

I can only guess the UPS driver wanted the package off of his truck, and decided at random that I need it. I have had a few automotive parts delivered here, and several sets of tires over the years.
