I was thinking about the bendpak scissor lift. My garage isn't the biggest so I thought this might be a nice fit. Maybe recess it in the floor.

Why have you not purchased that 3.2 by now?

Because of the New Jeep and $20K of other crap I did this year... if I beg for even a penny at this point my wife with throat punch me LOL,

But it is good to know what can be lurking out there, for a pretty good price.

It would easily be worth the throat punch. And maybe more.

Engines like that with top ends already done for that price are indeed rare.

You only need one kidney. Just sayin'.

I know, and if I fixed my head studs my engine could nearly pay for all of it.

I may have to gently break a "plan" to my wife.

It's only 2 hours away so I may be able to see it and talk with the shop that did the top end.

I sent him a mssg, and to my utter shock my wife is okay with it.... after I explained we'd have 2 engines until I fixed the 3L and sold it. But it is the most cost effective way to get a fresh or fresher engine into the Porsche.

I'm still trying to absorb your kidney sale.

This must mean a lot to you.

Glad you got the green light.

Ready in a month Edit: but it can slip plenty.

As a kid I thought this was the coolest car made. Plus I remember it from the Chevy commercials during Bonanza.

I didn’t see an ad for it anywhere but if you’re still considering selling one of your kidneys I’d be interested. Been on dialysis for too long and it keeps creating other health issues.

No worries Bob, that engine got away. But that might have been a bullet dodged. So I'll keep my eyes open for another 3.2, or we just fix the studs, and any easy leaks and call it good enough to either keep or sell this thing.

Though cars like mine have fallen, or more accurately corrected in value since I bought in. So odds are I am stuck with her for a good long while.

Do something with it. Sell it as is. Fix it and drive it or sell it. It looks like you will lose money any way you go. As my dad used to say.

"Chit or give off the pot."

That engine was definitely a bullet dodged and dollars to donuts it's not sold. How a shop, a real Porsche repair shop, can do a leakdown test and write down 0% on every cylinder is beyond me. Someone is doing some math right now on the cheapest option to get it sellable. I am sure I'm not the only one who questioned the leakdown numbers.

Yea for sure. Honestly I am at the point that being a used anything is a bad idea. People just suck and will do anything to get what they want.

I don't think there is a "good" solution for my car, just the lest worst option at best.

I can't sell it, I am not emotionally capable of handling that much loss.

Clean up the 3L, fix the studs, call it done wait for it to break, I don't see another option. Any used engine I get will be a bag of trouble... I have that luck.

whats the parts list vs labor for a top end?

I say just start occasionally stacking away parts and it will hurt less. Set of arp head studs for Christmas, gasket set for as a Halloween treat, etc.

I obviously don't know much about the specifics of a top end, but I find it much easier to spend $500 10 times than $5000 1 time for example.
