IF, big IF I part was with the Porsche I will not look at another P-car ever again. We have that kind of relationship LOL.

S2000's are cool, but are suffering from a good market. I recall cleans ones going for $16K hehehe

4C's are cool as hell.... but Alfa quality terrifies me.

I think the only Vette I would consider would be a C7 GS, or maaaaaby a C4 LT5 or LT4 (clamshell hood!)

The first passed me on the left in an intersection as I moved over into the turn lane (where I was signaling to turn left). Not only did they almost hit me, but their speeding up to way over the limit almost caused them to hit a car already crossing the intersection and one coming from the other direction head on. If I hadn't seen it come and pulled back to the right quickly, someone would have likely died. I drive the roads all the time in my less flashy, but faster cars and this never happens. Every time I drive my 911, someone tries to kill us. I drove my first 911 a lot and this happened constantly until one day, I had nowhere to didge and it was totaled. I wonder sometimes if maybe I need to stick to more nondescript vehicles.
Me too. My first 911, a 84 Targa that I had just got the way I wanted it, was totaled by an idiot running a stop sign. Saved the motor and trans and put them in the 77 Targa widebody roller I bought to replace her. RIP Bwunhilde. Long live Bwunhilde II.

I'm thinking of going in a different direction & I've said it before on here. I don't want to feel concerned about using my car, and I don't have much of a loyalty to vintage cars anymore. I've had a Porsche since the '80s. So I'm seriously considering selling mine in the future and buying a new Beck or Intermeccanica Sportster replica. I'll have a beautiful car with new interior, modern brakes, I'll settle for the 125 h.p. engine, & it will (hopefully) be a dependable ride. I think it should solve a bunch of problems associated with having these cars and be fun to drive.

A 968 is a very popular "Not a Porsche". Particularly the Club Sport model.

I’d vote for the M5. A badass car whose depreciation accelerated faster then it did. I thought about buying one several years ago but bought a cayenne turbo instead so I could pull my boat and tractor.

How tall are you?

Professionally done LS motor swapped Miata can be had for your price. Chevy drivetrain in a sports car. Flyin' Miata has done a number of them, do a search on Miata Habu

500 hp in a 2500 pound car, just saying.

Alternatively, new Miata, install supercharger, try to stop smiling.

'71 Datsun 510. Modified with a 2ltr engine, dual Weber side-draft, mild race cam, 5-speed 280Z transmission, suspension tweaks, flares, old school Libra 7x13 wheels with 205-60 tires. Like driving a big go-cart.

I really enjoy both of my AMGs, they are definitely fun and unique. They have been reliable too, great cars.

At the end of the day I had considered many on this list when I bought the Porsche, it is the car I have longed for it has always been the one. I may just not have the means to afford the ownership. Thousands a year is not sustainable.
There is no substitute.

But, if you were going the miata route, I'd either turbo or supercharge a miata motor. I wouldn't do a motor swap, unless it was for a V-8. May as well turn it into a modern cobra.

ND miata was my first thought, and still actually pretty unique.

SC's can be fun with original motor if in proper tune, and throttle linkage adjusted properly.
With carbs she'll run out pretty good. If properly tuned.
Can also put her on a diet. Rear seat delete, fiberglass fr/rear bumpers.
It all adds up.

Coupe or targa?

If targa, dump it and move on.
PM me and I will buy it!

You're clearly crying out for a Bullitt Mustang.

Seriously, the first thing that came to my mind was an NSX. A reliable car for many years- still should be pretty good. I still remember taking one out- what a car! Seems like $50K would get you a nice one, unless I missed the memo. Would you fit in an Elise? Or Evora? It sounds like you want another sports car. What's the story on the original Tesla Roadster? How about a Jaguar F-Type? The Type-Rs are badass, no? What does a modern Shelby GT350 with the Voodoo motor go for?

I realize I'm recommending stuff that I think about. Are you sure you need to divorce yourself from Porsche? I can't imagine you couldn't get a good 911 with lots of life in it for $50K. I think mine might be worth that much and a bulletproof unit- an '85 Coupe with 53K miles in mint condition. I still like the idea of a nice Cayman, or 997. Am I mistaken, or do all 997s have the IMS risk, including the 997.2s except the Turbo?

I wish I bought onewhippedpuppy's FD RX-7.

If I had the budget, maybe a Clownshoe M Coupe. Any M3's bound to be fun. The Lotus Elise and S2K ideas are good, too. If you're willing to go P-car, maybe a 996TT.

But if on a budget, I'd be OK with a Miata.

Go to post 11.

So, I hear begas hit 130 today. Holy poo poo that's hot

I want this to go to a good home. I am not good at selling thing; have no patients for tire kickers and BAT rejected me a couple years ago. All stock, Socal car and garaged, always. If anyone you know someone that's in the market for one, 14,500 and take her home.

I sold my 1985.5 Porsche 944, and bought a really nice white 2013 Mustang GT with the Coyote motor...so smooth, quiet, powerful, and rattle free compared to the 944.

For the record I currently have an 82 911SC, with SSI, and carbs. Its been a hateful couple of years. This is why these thoughts are circling my head.
