Your Blink sync module has a small hole with a reset button (use a paperclip or similar).

Off topic, but how does a camera help?

They don't really.
I have them up as a deterrent mostly. The evil red ring for the IR is obvious at night and may make someone think twice, maybe, I hope at least. As far as quality, unless you are running 4K cameras about all you'll get out of it is knowing what time some person showed up for shenanigans. Identifying them? Good luck with that.

just reading the tail-end of this thread. If you are trying to connect to a 5ghz, rather than 2.4, this could cause the problem....

I would be more inclined to install fake cameras and some motion lights.

Not sure if anyone else realizes this, the software running on them are basically hacked up proprietary versions of "open source" OS, good luck with vetting them for security holes. And that's just the unintended ones.
Of course, I assume people here care about their privacy and do mind others spying on their homes. |

I use the blink cameras as an alarm system. Motion sets them off. My Iphone buzzes and a video pops up showing exactly what set it off. I can call the cops if not home. If home, I know what I will confront before I go check it out (helps with weapon choice). I might have a mouse in the garage, a snake...of a crook. It also alerts me to packages delivered.

Let’s me know if someone is a little too close to the house. As mentioned, my phone dings or vibrates and I know I have a “visitor “. Tried that a hundred times (plus unplug/plug in power. |

A few years ago I looked into all of the wireless systems as they are in theory easier to set up than a wired one. After a lot of looking, and NOT wanting a subscription based video storage I ended up with the DVR, and 4 cameras that all run off of Power over Ethernet, or PoE. The cat 5e cables and a switch in my desk cabinet, and drag cables up the wall and to each corner of the house. Dirty hot itchy work. Attic work is never fun.
In the end, I have a system that only cost the electricity to run it, and it stores a 8 days over the most boring video on the planet. My driveway, side yard, back yard and back door. I think the entire DVR and 4 cameras was about $500. I can add more cameras and they are color HD cameras with infrared B&W at night. It did let me capture the moment a pizza delivery guy smacked into the garden dry stack retaining wall. It did more damage to his mom's minivan than the wall. I picked up one stone, and placed it back into position. It just runs flawlessly 24/7/365. I never have bothered to put the system on the internet, so it is 100% hack proof and even if someone hacked it, they would die from boredom watching the yards at my house. Wow, there goes the dog to take go pee, look there, the dog chased the bird. Wow, a car drove down the street!

Put this beside the car and turn your phone off so you can sleep all night.

Depends on the wireless access point in the router. Some deliver both frequencies under the same SSID. Especially the better ones.

I have four Arlo Pro 2 cameras and a doorbell, all outside. I was able to get close enough to power sources to have them all plugged in, I did have to add two outdoor outlets but it was worth it to not deal with batteries. Video is good, audio is good, the ability to talk back has a significant lag. The UI is pretty good but not perfect, despite my best efforts setting the activity zone my porch flag still sets off the doorbell alert sometimes, sometimes it still dings for a person when it’s my dog, you can’t change the alert tone so it sounds just like a text message, and it’s $10 per month per camera for them to continuously record, even with a local HD. Otherwise it only records the alert video and stores them for a week. Overall I’m happy and would probably get them again, I like that they aren’t tied to Amazon or Google who have a history of giving away or using camera data.

I hadn’t thought about in a long time, because it just sits there, but I have dash cam at the top of my windshield, next to the mirror. 🤪 I was parked facing out, so maybe I’ll see something.
I’ll download it this weekend and see what’s on it. |

I have used a 4 amp power supply with a 7 amp backup battery to power my WiFi/router and also the hub for my Hive system. My electricity meter box is on an external house wall (common practice in the UK)so it's vulnerable to possible interference by an intruder. All my PIRs and cameras are battery operated.

My trail camera has helped me figure out what's going on wrt wildlife in the area. These pics from last night shows me who was stealing my cat's food from the garage, for example.....

I have Ring on my house, I saw a guy the other day while RVing in Paso Robles who had a battery operated Ring doorbell on the side of his RV, he said it will go off when he's not with the RV, he uses the RV park wifi, or his own hot spot. He said a few times it has gone off on his phone and he's seen someone next to his RV checking what isn't locked down. He gets on his phone and says "what's up" to the doorbell and the person invariably says "Oh, I was just admiring your rig.
I may well get one from my RV, I've had a few things disappear in the middle of the night, at Public RV parks, stupid stuff like a cheap folding chair, and a $3 walmart solar light.
