Wireless security cameras?

What’s the latest and greatest in wireless security cameras?

I have the Blink system I brought from our old house, but for the life of me, I can get it to connect with our WiFi system. Same router, modem, password, etc. but no dice. It shows the correct password, but it just won’t accept it and I’ve tried eleventy hundred times.

So, I’m thinking it’s just old and I’ll get a new Blink system. Took a look and prices are higher than three years ago.

So, what everyone is using now?

Edit: any advice on getting the old system working?

Have you tried deleting the camera from the computer and re-installing?
I've had to do that with my Nest Cams once...fixed the problem.

There must be a way to reset the Blink camera.

If it were me, I'd get an Arlo Pro 3.

I’ve reset and unplugged/plugged in the synch every time I try to re-install it. I get the blue/green flashing light, select my WiFi and enter the password. The synch module light turns red after 20-30 seconds and game over.

One question I have is how do I pick the 2.4 or 5.0 ghz(?) WiFi. Looking at my phone, it doesn’t give me an option, but I see it on the router. It’s just one name. Could this be the problem?

I’ll also unplug/plug in both the router and synch module tomorrow to see what happens.

I have four cameras, so I’m not ready to give up yet and spend $3-400 clams.

I had that problem recently. Just kept trying. Took like ten ! tries. Never did figure out what the issue was. Hasn’t recurred.

2.4 and 5 will have different SSID's. They might have a similar name but it's usually something like "A930RocketWIFI2.4" and "A930RocketWIFI5.0".

A device only capable of 2.4 wont see a 5.0 SSID so that shouldn't be a problem.

Blink FAQ’s says the password is usually the problem, but I just reset my phone and laptop, so the password is good.

I find it hard to believe I can enter the password wrong that many times. Especially when it shows the correct password. 🤬🤬🤬

The real reason I’m looking at them again, is because my wife’s Tahoe was broken into the other night. One of two in the neighborhood. They took some CD’s and her moms handicap placard.

I’ve been happy with the Wyze cameras. They’re inexpensive and have clearer Video than the wired system at my office.

I'm using Ring. Very happy with the setup. Have 6 cameras so far mostly outdoors.

Unless you named the 2.4 and 5Ghz differently, it would be the same ssid. It will automatically connect to the stronger signal. (2.4 the farther from the WiFi base.)

Are you sure you are typing your password correctly? Have you tried connecting anything else new?

I have the Ring system. 3 cameras so far, each bought when they have one of the deals running.

It usually takes eleventy hundred and 3 dozen tries!

Try "hard selecting" anything that might be negotiating between the two, renaming the SSIDs, device names, etc.

Cuss at them both

Good luck!

Since you are trying to connect to the "old" network and not succeeding try renaming the SSID's and set everything up from scratch.

Last week I spent 3 days trying to fix something that should have been an easy fix.

Got up Saturday morning and said **** it, started from scratch. Was done in 2 hours and problem gone.

Sometimes trying to fix stuff is the long way around.

I have 5 wyze cams. If they had the ability to be viewed from a desktop, they would be perfect.

Not sure I would want video and audio feeds from my home being sent to some random server somewhere out there in the Interweb perhaps even in one of your favorite countries overseas.

No one here have any concerns about privacy ?

This.
Highly doubtful that your cameras quit working in the move.
Delete everything...start from scratch.

BRDT, but I’m going to try everything again tomorrow....delete the app, reinstall, unplug/plug in router and synch module, new system name and hope it works.

If it doesn’t, I’ll be forced to read the directions or contact Blink...

Are you sure they didn't get hacked ?

These devices are notorious for their lack of security.

Been outta the game a long time... but it isn't magic. Start from scratch and KISS, renaming, etc. until you pinpoint where in the "hand shake"... you're getting a middle finger instead? Oh yeah... can't you ask yer kid for help ?

Make sure you're resetting all devices back to "factory defaults"... so nothing is cached, etc. Good luck!
