Question for PPBT - LED Outdoor Flood Lights

Hey all - I currently have 100w X 2 halogen flood lights at 4 corners of my home. I want to replace them with LED lights for better efficiency and lower operating cost.

It looks like 100w bulb generates @1500 Lumens. So I would need to replace them with LED dual fixture (similar in looks to my current set-up) that together projects 3000+ lumens.

Here is what I'm looking at:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B083DDLYCR/ref=sspa_dk_detail_4?psc=1&pd_rd_i=B083DDLYCR&pd_rd_w=bv1PP&pf_rd_p=7d37a48b-2b1a-4373-8c1a-bdcc5da66be9&pd_rd_wg=bPoNT&pf_rd_r=36R62YXXNT307EGCQGWB&pd_rd_r=76c3fa66-3ff2-4772-9017-a24fc15d9a06&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEyQVhPMUtSVVdaQTVOJ mVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNTY3MTI5MUhTWjVVUkxHS0EwWiZlbmN yeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwNzU3NjA2UDc1TDRVRVdMWFdaJndpZGdld E5hbWU9c3BfZGV0YWlsJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmR vTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==

Is it then reasonable to expect that the lighting / projection will be the same or very close? Seems like it is a very cheap price.

I replaced 150W halogens with this and am quite happy with them. Coverage is good and very bright.

Thanks but my fixture utilizes speciality halogen small tube-like bulbs. Screw in will not work. I need to replace whole assy, which is not a big deal- need to make sure I’m doing approx equal trade for quality of light

Looks good to me.

If the lumens match up you should be fine. At that price it looks like you can't go wrong. I use a lot of LED but not 110v...mine are all low voltage (12v) landscape lights.

I love them - very long life - low energy consumption.

People in some of the comments are complaining they are too bright! I think you'll be fine.

I replaced the whole unit as well since I wanted options for lighting and I like a lot of light for clearing snow. The fixtures aren't expensive and the bulbs are 2650lm each.

Then again, I have two 10000lm shop lights above the bench and the other hanging lights are 3600lm per unit.

I like to replace the halogens with conventional screw-in bulb fixtures. Dirt cheap, then bulb replacement is easy, and halogen bulb with standard base are readily available.

The bulbs in the first link are not replaceable.

I have 900 lumen LED light in my garden I installed 9 years ago. It is triggered by light sensor. If I assume 50% duty ratio it has been on for whopping 39000 hours. No discernible change in light output...and it draws 8W.

Inspired by this thread and after replacing a few of my porch lights with LED versions - and being very pleased with the result - I decided to install a couple floodlights where I have fixtures at the front and rear corners of my house furthest away from my front entry.

Took delivery of the floodlights today. These have plastic housings which will help with corrosion issues here. I haven't installed either one yet but am excited and hope to by later tonight or tomorrow.

I have LED floods in standard screw in housings. Using comparable output bulbs there was no discernible loss in output from the halogens.

I was using those too, Matt and am now swapping out to these fixtures that don't have screw in bulbs.

My housings had all gone south so I just figured let's replace the entire fixture and eliminate the screw in bulb thing.

Like this porch light for example.....

Sadly I am sitting on some expensive low voltage lighting transformers, in stainless enclosures, that I inherited from my Father. A couple miles of heavy gauge wiring as well. I have been slowly replacing all that with modern LED solar lighting, spot lights. I have gotten up for bio break at 4 am and they are still going strong. YMMV.

Don't feel bad - lot of folks went that route before the LED technology hit.

The good news is you can save a lot of $ on your electric bill now by switching over!

You can use the same wiring and fixtures - just swap out the bulbs and get a smaller transformer.

I'm not a fan of solar lighting but in some cases it serves a purpose.

Your power calculations seem about right.
There is more to think about than just power. Be sure you have a color temp you can live with. We replaced some halogens with LEDs with color temps of about 4k and it looks like a movie set when we turned them on - as in it looks like daylight. We hate it.
I just replaced some halogens nearer the house with LEDs. This time we went with cooler, 2700 - 3000k color temps and it is much more comfortable.

The ratio for incandescent to LED is about 10:1 power for same lumens.

We had standard fixtures and I replaced 150 Watt with 20 Watt for an upgrade. I agree, change out the fixture for standard Edison and then put in Outdoor LED Floods.

Thanks all, pulled the trigger- they're on the way. Color temp is in the sub 3000 range. We'll see. I'll keep y'all posted once installed.

We did the opposite. We went 5000k from 2700k on everything inside and out because we don't like the warm colors. I did make one mistake. We put the Cree 6w that look like regular incandescent bulbs in our kitchen ceiling fan. Supposedly they are 450lm like a 40w bulb, but I swear they are more like an 80w bulb they are so bright.
