Sandui Kubano are awesome. My mom-in-law is from Cuba and I have tons of Cuban family members that live in Tampa (where I graduated from college). Never knew it was a hotspot for these sandwiches. Had plenty in Miami, but not in Tampa. Go figure

Whatever the truth might be, they’re certainly famous in and around Tampa, FL. If the cigar factory owners saw this as a lighter lunch, I can’t imagine what in the heck the employees were eating. This ain’t no dainty little sandwich. It’s a MEAT sandwich! I love the tradition of Cuban bread. A palmetto leaf is place atop the dough prior to baking and leaves an indention on top of the loaf.

I don't do green text either . That was a reference to an episode of Seinfeld .... can't remember the details, but Kramer (I think) thought he was getting some Cubans (cigars), and then three guys show up. Turns out they were fake ones though .... they were Dominican .

Back to sammiches... I would NEVER have a Mufaletta except from Central Grocery in the Fr. Qtr. Had a few over the years... any other place is bound to disappoint after those.

Hi Paul!

Not planning at this time. I have not raced since COVID started but just signed up to race International GT at Road Atlanta in November and Daytona in December (they run during the Audi Club event).

I think I can still get top 3 on the championship even though I have missed about 3 race weekends.

Bringing the 997.

Daytona for the Classic is a particularly expensive weekend. I might go as a guest co-driver as I did last year.

This place is in Hobe Sound Florida which is just North of Jupiter and is legit. North of Miami, you would be hard pressed to find a more authentic Cuban Sandwich. The bread is perfect every time.

Was just at the Columbia last weekend in Ybor - and had a Cuban - yummy - I also like Little Joe's in Tampa - their cubans are award winners.

My intro to emparedado Cubano was back in the 70's. I met a Cuban ex-pat co-ed on campus named Elena who was in her first semester on campus as well as newly arrived in country. She asked me if I'd show her around the town to get the layout so she'd know where to shop. I started with the most important to her, food. At that time A&P was the largest near campus and when I say she was awe struck upon entering the store I am understating her reaction. I was really moved by her shock. In addition to her list she bought all the fixin's for a Cubano. We went back to her dorm room and ate , talked for hours and became pretty good friends.

That was a good sammich!

This place is famous in Tampa. My daughter's class even took a field trip there.

Just flew into Tampa and stopped in there to get a cuban sandwich on my way to Lakeland and Paul you are right it was a very good sandwich.
