Why does Ford

Why does Ford keep releasing models that seem a little better? The new Mach one, to arrive next spring, is interesting...especially in light of it being available with a 10 speed dual clutch automatic. No more struggling with a clutch in a long stop & go city traffic slog does appeal to me these days.

Mach one was traditionally a drag racing name...evidently, that no longer applies.

The same reason every new 911 has more power then the previous year. To keep selling new cars to the folks that have to have the fastest and new stuff.

After driving my wife's Macan with a PDK if I ever get too old to drive my 911 I would for sure consider a PDK version of a Cayman or 911. It is a Psychic in it's abilities. It knows what you want.

I am very impressed with the current generation of Mustang.
Rented a base model last year from Phoenix Sky Harbor, took it to Sedona & Back.
Even in rental trim, a very impressive ride. Performance bargain.

But now that Ford has attached the Mustang name to a perplexingly hideous four-door E-thingy, I'm no longer interested.

Believe me...a whole lot of Mustang people share your view about a small electric sports Ute thing being called a Mustang...

Yep, inflation alone makes the cars more expensive. If they have to charge more, tweak a few more features in or power or performance in there to make it better than the previous version.

Let me add the 'new & improved' items may be real or just percieved by the potential buyer.

Sigh, Considering my'09 has driven maybe 40 miles since the March Virus shutdown, and it at 31,000 miles still capable of taking me to my favorite pool hall...sorry Ford. I'll be keeping what I've got.

Besides, 480 horsepower is no longer a place for this old man...neither is a track.

Still, an impressive ride on paper...bang for the buck thing.

Car and Driver just did an article discussing the Mustang’s improvements. Apparently the pressure SUV sales is putting on car models makes Ford role out every new improvement it can design immediately, so the model is constantly seeing upgrades and not waiting for new cycles or mid-cycle refreshing to incorporate improvements.

The article is well worth a read.

A very interesting piece...evidently, those of us who liked driving...are now dinosaurs, along with the cars we liked to drive. The automotive world becoming more homogenous by the day.

It's because they are tweaking the pedestrian algorithm with every new version.
You should have known that

A vietnam vet (now you know his age group) who posts on a Mustang Bullitt board posted something I agree with...

"As long as pencil-necked goofballs keep buying cookie-cutter SUVs and Crossovers (whatever to hell they are) with gray interiors, joke engines and more electronic gadgets than Doc Brown's garage, the damned car companies will keep rolling them out. Until we unite and rebel, it is what's on the menu. Bite, chew, swallow, repeat, as the man on The Walking Dead once said. No, not until Darryl Dixon emerges from behind the truck and blows them all to kingdom come with a bazooka will we have the cars we want. Cookie cutter bore-boxes with 4- doors only is what we'll eat until then. Sad.

GIVE ME COOL CARS OR GIVE ME DEATH!" -Jimbob

Oh well, neither Jimbob or I should worry...that death thing will happen soon enough for both of us. As Clint said in "Unforgiven"..."We've all got it coming."

what would be really cool would be to dig up some old dinosaur, fill in the parts of the DNA that have rusted away and then drive the hell out of it
