Porsche Boxster Shooting Brake, Yes or No?

The detail at this IG profile here is hard to find/sift through for this 986 Shooting Brake, but Van Thull Development (Dutch fabricators) are hard at work to get it complete. Believe it! It's a 986 Boxster under all custom body work with donor parts from a 997 and others that make it pretty unrecognizable. What are your thoughts on this project?

If it lowers drag, then top speed and MPG should be improved.

It should fit the aerodynamic template discussed at length in the following thread/link.

And then you have the utility factor, look at all the stuff you can carry and it's not an SUV.

Someone out there should appreciate those characteristics, but I'm guessing not many.

Perhaps a historic example may help put things in context.

The 250 GT SWB Breadvan's unusual but effective aerodynamics proved the Kamm tail design that would be used on many other racing cars, including the Ford J-car and the Alfa Romeo Giulia TZ...................

Similar shooting brake designs were used on later Ferrari concept cars and production cars such as the 456 GT Venice and the Ferrari FF.

Not really but I think it is interesting and would not call it ugly because I'm such a fan of aerodynamics.

I guess you'll have to copy and paste as I can't get it to show. On the 986 my jury is out on that.

Wagons are a hard sell, even harder when no back seat and the contents get heated up from the engine below.

This shooting-brake Boxster is the answer to a question that nobody asked.

I am however appreciative of the intellectual aspect of improved aerodynamics, if indeed there is any in this case.

I like it. Basically they have built a mid engine hot hatch. I might be mistaken, but it looks like the hatch opens up into the roof, rather like a Dodge Magnum. That might improve access to the top of the engine.
I think they need to improve rearward three quarter visibility.
I must admit I thought of doing something similar on a Miata to improve utility.

Judging by their webpage looks like what we see here is all foam and bondo at this point that'll they finish then use as a buck to make a mold for a composite shell

I love wagons and want to like this but it's far too early to tell. Appreciate the air-cooled 911 quarter window but I'm but I'm not sure it resolves with the rest of the car's lines. And probably won't know until it's all one color. But definitely A for effort.

Wagon is a wagon. Hatchback is a 2dr or 4dr sloped wagon. Shooting Brake is a 2dr sports car turned into a hatchback?

That small high rear hatch would be impractical except for a couple bags of groceries.
Unless the car is kept immaculately clean, every load would also require leaning over several feet of dirty wet bumper.

Not something I'd spend time making, for sure. There are plenty of good looking wagons and the boxster platform doesn't come to mind immediately for such a creation.
