Where can you stand with one foot on the European plate and one foot on the North American plate?

Iceland, I believe. And there's a place there where you can actually swim between 2 plates that are separating.

I saw that on Nova or some other science program.

Here's another: for an hour a year it's the same time in Florida as it is in Oregon.

What's the question?

Norm K 11-24-2020 03:15 PM

It was a statement.

stevej37 11-24-2020 03:17 PM

ok...sorry.

RWebb 11-24-2020 03:38 PM

How often is it the same time in FL and OR?

URY914 11-24-2020 03:50 PM

I believe you can get to all states that border Arkansas by traveling south. ;)

Never heard of them. I never watch morning news shows. Ever.

Without looking it up, I seem to remember Alaska being the answer.

Edit: Read the responses and see the answer was already given.

How about the northern most state in the con-us?

stevej37 11-25-2020 09:09 AM

They should put a bridge across there so that I can drive from here to Europe.:D

They're not really experts...but they did ask the original question.

There is a bridge just off the road about twenty minutes south west of Keflavik. One end is on the European plate, the other on the North American plate. There is a shallow (but slowly widening) depression under the bridge. I believe it widens each year by about the same rate your fingernails grow.
Iceland is such a cool place.

Oh, and Maine is the northernmost of the 48 .

^^^ You are correct of the 48.

71T Targa 11-25-2020 10:47 AM

Not Maine, but it does start with an 'M'

Nope, but it is the eastern most point of the lower 48.

The northernmost point is a geographic anomaly. It is the only point in the continental United States that lies north of the 49th Parallel.

stevej37 11-25-2020 11:10 AM

^^^ didn't know that...interesting.

Same here on both counts.

oldE 11-25-2020 01:18 PM

Thanks for the correction. Maine doesn't quite make it to 48 degrees North.
