ATE Blue brake fluid

I came across an unopened 1 Liter container on my shelf. Is this selling at a premium or is it just an oddity.

I'm probably going to use the Gold that I also have to do a fluid change since I have blue in there now.

Of course the blue is banned. But nobody really cares to pay a premium for the blue. Save it for a collectors item in 100 years.

Is there actually a dye? Seems like that would lower the wet boiling point.

This is crap. Use it in your daily driven appliance car, it has no place in a properly driven sports car.

I am using ATE Super Blue in my race car. I've done a 1:39.4xx at Sonoma Raceway with the blue stuff. I suspect my race car is at least as "proper driven" as any of your sports cars.

ATE Super Blue is just fine in many applications. Not all, but in many....

It only works on the track if you have a modified brake system that can adequately shed heat. A stock 911 system (64-89) does not shed enough heat to run super blue in anger.

I used ATE Super Blue in my 78 SC with Carrera breaks at autocrosses and DE's with no issues. The SC had a Carrera 3.2 in it along stiffer torsion bars and Charlie Bars. It was no slouch either.

My point is that you cannot make these overly general statements about Super Blue and be taken seriously.

I was simply asking if there was a value to someone over and above just being brake fluid. Back on the shelf it goes. Picking up a container of gold on Monday.

Super Blue--form over function. Only difference between Super Blue and Amber is the color (form). Braking qualities (function) are the same. Super Blue has added value only to someone interested in the color, for whatever reason. The sale and distribution of Super Blue has stopped in the US, but is still allowed in other countries so the supply is out there if a "collector" wants it.

Put it on the shelf or put it in your car. It has no special value outside of being brake fluid.

Why would a "collector" want it?

Just a little tongue-in-cheek. Probably should have used green font.

It is incredibly useful if you are trying to fully flush your brake fluid, with typical fluid it is often times difficult to really tell the difference between old and new fluid when bleeding. With Super Blue it was great, you just bleed at each corner until the fluid is totally blue. For the next bleed you swap to gold for the same reason. That's the point, it's not some sort of bling.
