^ The front struts are super easy.. In fact, the Cayman is WAY more easy to work on than the 911.

Seriously, consider GT-3 control arms. You'll get adjustable camber, and negative camber brings the front end alive.

I don't want to get too deep into the handling. Its good enough for me as I stopped doing time trails down Angeles Crest some time ago. The new shocks will do the car some good. I am building a 996 turbo. In shop now as we type this. It will take some time to do this one. I am looking at 450-470 hp. Keeping it reliable. That will become my daily driver.

Had I kept my 996TT a set of the R&T’s was my next upgrade.

I have ttx on my gt3rs. They are excellent. Mine are setup pretty firm as car was mostly track but the car is just amazing and damping is nuts
I had r&t on the car prior and they are good too. Ttx are a big step up but 2x price.

KW will go on mine. Pulled motor to get all water pipes welded. Its a bit of a mess but while the motor is out..., stock engine with a a few upgrades like turbos.

Any thing special you done to your car?

You are planning to replace all four right? I definitely wouldn’t just do the front.

Now you have me thinking about Ohlins all the way 'round. Fascinating technology. I see that you can adjust the stiffness.

Apparently, a great upgrade for PASM that can retain the "active" portion is the DSC Sport controller and then some new shocks that they sell that react much faster than the stock shocks and Bilstein damptronics. The controller is $1200, and if you have a 987.1, then I think you also need a 3 axis accelerometer ($250) because the 987.1 is only 2-axis. Then if you want their shocks, they are $7180.

Why not just send your Bilstein's back to Bilstein for a refresh?

If it's a street car I'd just have the Bilstein shocks rebuild and perhaps revalve the shocks to your application.
Bilstein may already have a shock valving set up used successfully on a similar car.

I have the damptronics and they are awesome! As for the Ohlins, Lamborghini uses them so I suspect they are excellent but spendy

Oh yeah. If not, the others will leak two weeks after I replace the two new ones. Always happens

Look,

My 964T was very modified, so with the 996TT I wanted to leave it stock. I did lose an exhaust tip one time driving so I put on a set of nice used double pipes from the X50 option and I really liked how that looked.

My RS has a Shark Werks center muffler delete which can be classified as performance or preventative maintenance, the stock Ti mufflers are known to crack over time. It also has a very mild tune with a Cobb Accessport to take advantage of the muffler delete.

What have you done to yours?

Who makes the original PASM shocks? Bilstein seems like the obvious answer, but I have no idea.

Hey Look 171, you mention pulled engine to weld water pipes, why is that? A friend had a 2010 turbo that had coolant problems.

Back to shocks

the glue used to hold the pipes in place is known to fail. A lot of tracks will not let certain models on them if the coolant pipes have not been pinned or welded....

Hope you guys don't mine getting off tangent from shocks but I will answer your question.

Its going to be worked on very soon. Still in the planning stage with my wrench but motor is out. My plan is reliability because it will be my daily driver. Wife made some noise about wanting to drive the Cayman since kids are getting older and will be driving themselves in a couple years.

This is what was suggested:
KV coilovers. Adj. on both compression and rebound. We will see how it rides. I like them just a tiny, little bit firmer then stock

CFS performance radiators

GT2 intercoolers

Tial Alpha GT28 turbos while I am in there, now its time to replace them in case originals are worn?

Wevo semisolid engine mount to keep that puppy at bay

Engine out to weld cooling system pipes

997 Cup car shifter assembly and cable set. Bought by previous owner. I only need to install it to help with more precise shifting

997 locking diff

GMG Bump steer kit and adj sway bars, GT3 drop links

Rubber parts, bearings and such are all going to get swapped out for new.

I am looking for 500 HP. No more. Must keep it reliable

What's been done to the 964 T? Is this the 3.3 or 3.6?
