Our oldest son tested positive for Covid
Yesterday our oldest son ( 39 ) texted us that he tested positive for Covid ☹️ . On Sunday he started feeling crappy so he got tested on Monday morning . He is very healthy and as of this morning just has a slight cough and a scratchy voice .
His wife and three kids are holed up as much as possible under one roof . My son is angry that he got it , he works from home and hasn't gone out much to limit exposure . Wears a mask and follows CDC guidelines . But as we all know nothing is foolproof when it comes to health . My wife and I did not spend Thanksgiving with them as a safety precaution but we did spend some outside time with him on Wednesday before Thanksgiving . Not knowing when/where he was exposed is frustrating . So far my wife and I have no symptoms . Hopefully it stays that way and he is past it in 5-7 days . Scary crap ! |

Sorry to hear that he has the bug.
One of the things that I find annoying is that everytime I cough a bit, sneeze or have a bit of congestion I think did I catch that thing... Hope you and the missus stay well.

Your son's anger is understandable.
ask the question; Why, to five levels of answers and you end up @ some level of leadership not being provided.

rfuerst911sc: At 39, I expect that he will be fine, and then have some strong immunity to this one.
Also, treatment for CV has come a Long ways quickly. Sure, 80+ year olds with co-morbidity issues are at risk, but even for a common cold, but for CV quite a few treatments are available. Quote:

As of today his doctor has just suggested fluids and rest . No additional vitamins or medication . My son is generally healthy as a horse and regularly walks/bikes several miles . He doesn't smoke or drink and eats healthy ........ complete opposite of his dad 😁 . But as a parent I still worry and will be glad when I hear him say he's feeling better .

I would try not to worry. Odds are greatly in his favor.

My 32 yo daughter had it when she was in the last week before giving birth to her second. She had very mild symptoms for a few days and no one else in her family got it. As parents we never stop worrying.
I wish your son the best of luck and speedy recovery.

Hopefully, he recovers fully and quickly with minimal issues. There are lots of folks that do, so by the numbers, he should.

Exactly. Hugely likely that it's going to be like having a cold or the flu and then he recovers fully.

I have known quite a few people that have had it now, and all , but one said it was pretty much like a regular cold , or flu episode .
One guy, however who has had it twice now, and he said that the second time was far worse than the first, and really knocked him down for a week . He also said , that several weeks , later, he is still generally feeling sluggish , and achy . Hope he comes out of it unscathed. I cannot wait till this nonsense is over .

Thanks everyone . My son has the luxury to work from home so he isn't missing any time or having to burn sick days or vacation days . I instilled in my boys the saying " you can be sick at work just as well as at home "

If it helps ease the worry, one of the most unhealthy people I know (diabetic and obese) got through it with not much more than the squirts.

It is very rare, but not unheard of, to get it twice. Often the first time is a very mild case, may not trigger much of an immune response. Or the person never fully clears the virus from the first infection. Repeat Covid cases are only starting to be confirmed and studied so I don’t think the mechanism is really understood that well.

Glad he’s ok! If he’s like 99.9X% of the population he’ll have mild symptoms and make a quick recovery.

I just spent 4 days staying at my GFs house for the holidays. We all ate together, got a XMAS tree, went to a room escape.. basically all over each other for days. I left to go home late Sunday evening and by monday morning, three of her kids, 21,19,17 all were really sick and tested positive on Tuesday.. Both of us have been good so far! EEK!
