Open season on holiday lights yet?

They're not Christmas lights ... one neighbor has a half-dozen big azz inflatables.... strobing red, blue, green snowman, etc. changing every qtr second. Another has about a dozen foot tall lights for starters.... haven't been turned off in 6 weeks day or night ..... either neighbor .

They ain't from around here ... meet Diana

Reluctantly. Maybe so.

I get wanting to celebrate. And, I have some kitschy santa / reindeer on my roof for the season- now put away.

But, there is a point. I get it. I have a neighbor down the street that has passed this point as well. Good thing I only see their stuff when I drive. I might lose it if I had to stare at it daily.

We only put "white/yellow" lights outlining our house and have them on timers.

BUT we turn them on through Jan 6th.

Ours stay up until my wife's B-day on the 7th.

When we were in Denver it was tradition to keep them up through the National Western Stock Show (rodeo) - mid month.

A little light in the dark of winter is nice I think...

Ours made it until 12/27. The wife puts them up right after Thanksgiving and takes them down right after Christmas like clockwork.

It's gotten so out of control around here. It's pretty much who can out-do their neighbor by being more gaudy and over the top. The jerk off next door to me keeps his up and on until Feb.

My house is framed with the colorful light strings.
They stay up all year.
We use them sporadically throughout the year for parties, or when the kids and I are playing in the yard at night.
So from thanksgiving through new years they are Xmas lights.
During events they are colorful party lights.
And other times they are colorful yard lights.

I believe you are only allowed to take out two per night.
Maybe more, with a special permit.

My neighborhood in Alexandria VA (just south of Old Town and next to Mount Vernon) the last 6 years. This guy had FM simulcast and won some National TV show competition a couple of years ago.

He works on this year round. A couple of years recently he has been in poor health and had to not put on the show.

Our outdoor lights came down last Friday. I have had to wait in years past if they are covered in snow but I always unplug them around the first. We have a timer that turns them on at dark for 6 hours.

One thing I noticed this year is that my normal city no cost tree recycling place is now charging and is only a few locations as opposed to a number of them in normal years. I plan on just let the tree dry out further and burning it in the chimenea.

Front Range of the Rocky Mountains, normally the trees are turned into mulch by the city and free for everyone to use. I am wondering if the change this year is due to Covid related restrictions. I am fine with not dropping my tree off and will use the wood, just found it interesting.
