CZ Buying Colt

https://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/breaking-cz-in-late-stage-talks-to-acquire-colt/

*Sigh*

It's no secret I'm a Colt "fanboy". My "one gun" (handgun anyway), forever, if I could only ever have just one, would say "Colt" on it. 4 3/4" Single Action Army. I still carry one for self defense sometimes, I've killed everything from prairie dogs to coyotes to mule deer to antelope to black bear with one, and a lot of game I'm probably forgetting. My remaining 1911 says "Colt" on it. While a current Python owner, I have a new 4" (I guess it's a bit longer, to satisfy our neighbors to the North) on (somewhat prolonged) backorder. I like Colts...

Needless to say, this news deeply saddens me, in a way. In another way, I couldn't be happier. Colt has had problems my entire life. Much longer than that, really. No one can deny that. Hell, when their biggest news is the reintroduction of a damn near 70 year old design - the Python - you know they are in trouble.

They have relied upon the momentum carried by their name for far too long. Far too long. Hopefully this infusion of capital, but more importantly some responsible leadership, will prove to be what they need. As importantly, hopefully CZ respects their heritage (but not to the point of languishing in it) and continue to produce their "heritage" guns, while introducing some badly needed new products. We'll see. I'm both sad and optimistic at the same time.

Maybe CZ will save Colt from Connecticut.

I think the most comfortable pistol I've ever held was the CZ-75... it just fits my hand so perfectly.. good shooter too. I personally don't have a CZ-75 [my son does] but I do have a CZ P-09 big gun - good shooter... and you could probably drive tent stakes with it...

Sounds like you are talking about the USA...

CZ can only be an improvement for the venerable old company.. Americans could not do it..

CZ products are high quality for a reasonable price. their fit and finish is excellent.
The inside rails for the CZ 75 are instrumental for outstanding accuracy. Reminding me of the Sig p210

I own two 75's the P01 alloy frame Compact which is NATO approved and a SHADOW 2..which is the darling of the competition circuit.

CZ also owns Dan Wesson..Now Colt...the expected route would be an expanded line of Wheel Guns the 1911 and various other autos like the Woodsman. .

I’ve never encountered a CZ product that appeared to be low quality or overpriced, two terms that I would use to describe a modern Colt. I agree Jeff that they have whored out their legacy to cover for overpriced and questionable quality guns. Even resurrecting the Python they couldn’t deliver quality or deliver at all. I think CZ can only improve them, they make excellent stuff.

I still think DW is the best 1911 out there for the money. They're no longer as much a steal as they used to be, but they can stand up against any of the crazy expensive boutiques. Colts just irritate the hell out of me. When you get a good one, it's the best. I have one and it's sooo awesome. But I've had five or six lemons of theirs too. And you never know until you run it and own it for a while. With a Dan Wesson, you will never be disappointed.

I'm hopefull that CZ will turn the Colt brand around. Every CZ pistol or rifle that I have examined had great fit/finish and some of that "old world" charm.

Cz handguns and rifles are exceptionally nice as I’m sure you know. Hopefully that carries over.

I won’t tell you how their shotgun line doesn’t carry the same qualities.

I believe we all make mistakes but I will not validate your poor choices and/or perversions and subsidize the results your actions.

I have (2) CZ shotguns which I really like. the 20 GA O/U is my all-around shooter for clays/quail.

CZ props sure, but still sad to see Colt foreign-owned. It’s like if Chrysler were . . . never mind.
