No car warranty calls for me, but I’ve been getting calls that my power or water is going to be cut off if I don’t make a payment in 30 minutes.

That and texts that ask if I’ll support an vote for the two dems in the Georgia runoffs.

If you have an IPhone you can select a mode where if the caller is not on your contacts or a frequent person yogurt call the phone will ring silently and thus you don’t have to answer it . I tel, people if I don’t answer please leave a message and I will get back to you saves me answering lots of span calls

Monday morning here. 10:30. I had 3 wait customers this morning, and missed 5 phone calls. I just went back, and scrolled through messages, and caller ID. Only one of those calls was a legit customer. The rest, were all google listing update calls .
If I legit knew where they were at, it would create problems for me , and them

If you haven't already - register you phone number on the donotcall.gov site. It will help somewhat.
If I don't recognize it as a SPAM call, and I say hello. I think the system on the other end waits for a second "hello." If I don't get a response, then I put the call on mute and wait until the far end hangs up. If I had more time like (is it Glenn or Paul) I'd get them on the phone and waste a bunch of their time before I then explained that I drove a 1969 beetle with a million miles on it.

Yep, every time I get a call and accidentally answer, I then block the number.

It sickens me that these lazy fools (refusing to work a real job), are taking advantage of the elderly, and the gullible with money making scams.
Actually, they are working a job just as real as any other. They are in India or wherever they are, go into a large business office and have business gear and get a paycheck. The people on the phone probably don't know or care that it's a BS/scam thing. THey probably also get graded on how many calls they have and how many fish they hook. They probably get cussed at plenty by the recipients of the calls. So when someone wastes their time, it probably really only hurts the little guy on the phone (screws up his call stats, maybe makes his job more precarious).

I'm not going to give them any money, but I also don't have any animosity to the little folks that are trying to feed their family in a place where that's probably not that easy.

Maybe a subscription to pork of the month by mail would be more effective. If you want to be an equal opportunity offender, you could alternate beef and pork.

You're not likely to fly to India any time soon.

Then you start getting the calls from a number that looks close to one that you normally get. Or a number that s one digit off from your own.

Blocking a number is just something to make you feel better, and does not do anything to stop the calls. They scammers just spoof any old number they want. I have received calls that were my own phone number! There are hundreds of millions of possible numbers. You can't block them all.

I had one lady call me and was irate that I was calling her. I told her, I never called her, and that is was scammers spoofing my number. I answer most calls only because my cell phone is my business line. If it is a call with no ID except the name of city, I will let that go to voice mail.
