What do you use for cracked finger tips?
This time of year my skin gets so dry so my fingertips end up cracking and splitting. It’s actually even worse this year because I wash hands so often or apply antibacterial cleaner. What lotion do you use to heal and prevent dry, cracked skin? I’ve tried Aquaphor but it’s not strong enough.

The best cure is 4-5 days in a warm humid environment.
I don't miss that...

Another vote for Bag Balm. I see they also carry it now in tubes.

My dad had that problem every winter. He'd put lanolin on and then put gloves on his hands and sleep with the gloves on. Seemed to work for him. I never had the problem like he did but when my hands would get really dry I'd use Cornhuskers lotion. Something else I try to do is increase my water intake in the winter. It's easy to get dehydrated in the winter without even realizing you're dehydrated.

Years ago when I worked delivering home heating oil I would use Vaseline or if really bad Aquaphor
at night and wear thin cotton gloves to sleep. Worked for me. My hands were constantly in #2 heating oil, washed and exposed to the cold.

I don't normally have a problem with my hands here, but I went through a period where I was sitting around the house all of the time with no shoes (working from home due to covid). When I did, I noticed that skin on certain parts of my feet (around the edges of my heels, etc...) got dry and rough which had never happened before. I started wearing shoes all day, even if it's just full coverage slippers, and the rough dry skin went away.
I think wearing gloves at night with a moisturizer is a good idea.

When my pain is high, I put Neosporin (with pain reliever) and a bandaid for a day or two.

I put a bandaid over the crack as much as possible. The bandaid helps the affected area retain moisture. It becomes less sore. After a couple of days the bandaid falls off. If needed put another bandaid on.

That's what I do but with Aquaphor.

I take some sandpaper and reduce the thickness of the skin around the crack.
Then I use Aveeno eczema cream to moisturize.

Just throwing this out there...why not treat the cause instead of applying a fix. Maybe better hydration?

Like some others have said, BAG BALM. Like I told my doctor, it's the best for everything short of cancer. He chuckled. There are a bunch of other products mentioned too.

I was doing drywall work in Anchorage in the winter and my thumb split open. I'm assuming it was really dry then but not sure as it's 76% there today. Should have worn gloves. Took weeks to heal with Bag Balm and bandaids. OMG, it was painful.

I use superglue or Krazy Glue. Any sort of cyanoacrylate glue that bonds skin will work.
Basically glue the crack closed and cover with a band-aid. After a day or two, the crack will have sufficiently healed at the tearing ends and the glue will have at least partially sloughed off with dead skin. From there it's nothing a basic moisturizer won't handle.
