Hmmm. Living in Nikeland, I will have to ask some people I know about what happened. May have an acquaintance in line for her now open job...

Weird, "secondary sneaker market."
I guess I've never been trendy enough to know about this sort of thing. So, makes you wonder, did she give her son info to help his business or did she do more or did she do less? Did the son sneak (NPI) information from his mom without her knowledge? Or were the two completely independent (seems pretty unlikely).

I can't image what she was making with salary, bonuses and some kind of profit sharing but how stupid can you be to piss on the golden egg.

Maybe she didn't do anything, but is a scapegoat to protect their reputation.

Crooked a hell.
She was fairly much the only source of sneakers for her son to sell. Very sneaky of her. |

Or, maybe he was in just involved in street-level stuff but he was able to prove he had high level access on campus that bathed him with extra cred while dealing in the black market sneaker flipping trade. Got him some extra units from his source. It may have started when he was pretty young, getting half price stuff from the company store, selling it at a profit at his grade school or high school. The newest Kobe or LeBron or Jordan shoe can be as intoxicating as heroin to some sneaker-heads. I've seen it first hand. Stupid money. She had to know on some level what he was doing, whether she was actively engaged in the scheme or just turning a blind eye, it's hard to tell from the article, but the way the story describes the way she left the company leaves a lot of room between the lines of the narrative. The end of this chapter in her life is that a very powerful, extremely well compensated exec has lost her job because of her son's obviously nefarious activities. That's gonna be a wound that doesn't scab over anytime soon.

Weird thread dude... normally I just buy my shoes at Costco... secondary sneaker marker indeed!
Then again, people who see cars only as appliances, would think I'm crazy for having 5646 posts on a car enthusiast's website...
