Drizzly day. Alignment on daughter's car. Sat in waiting room at my guy's shop trying to wake up. He charged me $40 because it was my daughter's car and it was "Be nice to Bob day".
Brake job on her car. Ugh! On my rack at 10:00am. Gathered parts yesterday. Front pads and rotors. Rear pads. Absolutely a no problem job. OK, I had to use a hand file to clean up where those stainless slider thingies mount on the caliper brackets. Finished at 7:00PM tonight. Nine hours to do a two hour job. No labor charge. Surprisingly, I pissed an immense amount of time away on a car forum with no regrets. Couple of Yuenglings in later afternoon when the work got harsh but I pulled through. New wipers tomorrow for her. Time to rest up.

Sounds quite good. Good for the mind I'd say. Me, I tidied up the workshop after a couple of big projects where I just put everything down anywhere until I got to the stage I couldn't find anything. So a weight off my shoulders having completed the boring part of a project. |

Let me put it this way... tomorrow morning, I’m going to teach some senior engineers how to do a root cause analysis...
Great day... nope.

Wrapping up before vacation. Cranked emails. Did a bunch of calls. Lunch with a referral partner. Blew off a meeting. Came home. Felt “poopy.” Done nothing since. Wife got Costa Rican for dinner as it is my ‘now home) college son’s favorite.
Write a cover letter to my accountant and the. Brainless screen consumption. Brandy and fire seems nicer. |

Changed out the guts of a toilet at the condo and touched up the tub while I was there. Tenant with the 644 signed the lease today and paid her deposit, rent for the rest of this month and next month. Took the dog riding and for a walk. Made a seafood risotto for mom's dinner. Took the gf out for dinner afterwards.

Been an extra more than once. Rode dirt bikes all over those hills avoiding old mine shafts. Lots of snakes, heat. I do enjoy it more in the winter.

Wednesday was a really busy day for me, I took a 1/2 day vacation from work (off at 10 am) to put a second coat of paint on the kitchen walls, then I cleaned, and fixed 2 push mowers that I will be selling, brought up a loader full of firewood, fixed dinner, did the dishes, and re-filled the hot tub.
Thursday, not much of anything, we had constant 30-50 mph winds with pelting rain, so even the dogs didn't want to go out. I sat in my overstuffed leather recliner, and watched several episodes of "Street Outlaws", and ate leftovers. |

Sounds like you need to go to the "do you meditate" thread and answer "yes." If you sit around all day enjoying harsh weather from a distance that probably counts. And if you did any logic puzzles, then you exercised your brain. You may need to try harder to do nothing.

I think you're right. MrsWD has me scheduled to paint the bathroom this weekend. I'm going to tell her that Dr. Steve told me to work harder at not working hard.

Wind! Wind is what caused all my grief. Furnace is working fine today. I spent the better part of yesterday nursing the furnace and trying to figure out what was wrong... and it was the friggin WIND.

Carried my MK tile saw upstairs. That should have been filmed. Never thought twice about it when I was younger. Had to take a half day break after that calamity.

A day best forgotten. My 90 yo MIL is living in an old farm house with a stone foundation. There is about four and a half feet of headroom down there. After we lost our snow cover, we had another cold snap and the wind was blowing between the stones enough that the pressure switch on her water pump froze. After a few minutes work with a heat gun, I went into town for a couple of cans of expanding spray foam. My attempts to reduce the drafts fell short so in a last ditch I-don't-want-to-spend-any-more-time-in-this-cellar, I went home and built a box with a thermostatically controlled incandescent light bulb inside and installed it over the pump.
A glass of scotch was my well earned reward. No more freeze ups! Best Les

The Christian Brother brandy is actually pretty good. It is not a lot more expensive, so try the XO next time.

I went to work. Boring.
Nice stove. Vermont Castings Encore? Cadillac of wood stoves. I had one for years and the kids killed it by over firing.

I went to work too, but it was still a pretty good day, taxied a G650 for power runs and compass swings, driving $100M around the ramp always gets ones attention engaged. Then some tool shopping on the company's dime , always fun. Ended with a nice relaxed eve with a fire on a night nice enough to enjoy it outside from the hot tub.
