I figured all of that out the first time I had a credit card. Real soon the I had some looming debt and I had to start working longer just to pay off the debt. I cut that card in half, and now I pay off all statement balance every single month, no exceptions.

Politicians love to get their picture in the paper when the "bring home the bacon" ribbon cutting with some huge government sponsored project that was built with borrowed money. And it happens from both parties.

I find it amusing that they monitor my credit score, and my financial life depends on me handling my debt responsibly.
I wonder what the governments credit score would be ?
How is it, that an uneducated auto mechanic in rural America can run a business in a fiscally responsible manner, yet, the same is not expected from our leaders who are using our money .
This is why people like me vote the way we do .
I hope that was not too political

That's not political, that is refusing to take blame for electing people who make promises they couldn't possibly keep and calling them the fools.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice... You know the rest.

And yet look at the spending bills in Congress today. Trillions spent ("stimulus") supposedly to help people but only a fraction goes to the people. They rest go to the political agendas of one side of the isle. A multi trillion dollar trojan horse! The other side doesn't have the nerve to vote no because it is political suicide to tell the American people you aren't getting more "free" money.

Ya, but it's a big fraction.

It's damned near one tenth for goodness sake!

I'd like to see the politicians only get 1/10 of their salary.

True.

It hurts the entire nation instead of just the one stupid borrower.

Isn't it better to stay debt-free?

Actually, no.

It is better to borrow to fund something that will pay off big (bigly) in the future.

Like research, education... stuff that creates computers, the internet, etc.
