				Just for fun. Inventions 1950-1979

Some we take for granted, others that arrived on and left the scene. Just a fun video. about 10 minutes.

I was in grade school at the beginning of the invention period. I wasn't aware of half of those things at the time ('50 to '60). I mean I didn't know what an LED was until 10 years ago.

Possibly the best "invention" of the 50's as far as benefitting mankind? Polio vaccine. I remember too well seeing kids may age in leg braces, on crutches, and photos of them being doomed to iron lungs.

The tech breakthrough I loved? Transistor radio...remember the first one I bought. Mowed a lot of lawns to earn it's $40 price tag...a lot of money back then.

Seeing the adjacent invention pictures next to landing on the moon reminds me of how extraordinary that feat really was....

Glad to see that Velcro preceded me. Had always lamented that I didn’t invent it first!

When I was in grade school we had a school presentation when "Mr Science" had a show in the school auditorium. The LASER had just been invented, and he demonstrated a beam as it is always done, by illuminating a target and getting smoke to show the beam. They had to lower the lights for us to see it. He then went on to say it was invented, but as yet, no one had figured out a use for it. So it was just a curiosity. Now look around your house. I have several laser in my house in DVD recorders and players and so on. Life as we know it could not happen now without lasers and we can't imagine life without them. Just one of the millions of examples of inventions that changed the world.
