I'm betting they were on the phone. It looked like they may have let off the gas when they hit the arm, but didn't hit the brakes until after the jump. I'm betting the smashed windshield woke 'em up.

The hood is jacked up before they hit the gate and it looks like the gate hit on the windshield first.

Me thinks not their first rodeo or they were trying to put some distance between themselves and a prior incident.
