Here is why that attitude can destroy our country.

If you establish that justice is suspended in cases of one group threatening riots the only recourse to that is riots from opposing groups.
otherwise justice will remain suspended.
Very, very, very bad president to start setting.

That said, there are people that want two sides getting violent in the US, not just one side.
It gives them more power, same as the clones vs the seperatists in Star Wars handed Palpatine the reigns.

We have to fight to maintain justice in our courts, and keep our courts from suspending justice on threat of violence.
Otherwise violence will follow violence.

Ummm... I'm not sure that's a fair comment.
- Talking about what happened doesn't mean someone doesn't accept the outcome.

What needs to be answered is: Why did George Floyd die? Was it the drugs in his system or Chauvin's knee?

True, but I’ll bet you a nickel she wasn’t the only one that thought that.

Yet jurors and alternates experienced exactly the same things...

It did not impact me as far as the trial went. However, only being about six blocks from the police department, I could hear everything. When I came home, I could hear the helicopters flying over my house... I could hear the flash bangs going off. If I stepped outside, I could see the smoke from the grenades. One day, the trial ran a little late, and I had trouble getting to my house, because the protesters were blocking the interstate, so I had to go way around. I was aware, but it did not affect me at all.

"A week before she was excused from the trial, a police officer in her city fatally shot 20-year-old Daunte Wright during a traffic stop after firing a gun when she apparently meant to use her Taser. Christensen watched as smoke from police flash-bang grenades rose into the air about a mile from her home. She listened as hundreds of protesters chanted in the distance"

I did not want to go through rioting and destruction again and I was concerned about people coming to my house if they were not happy with the verdict.

That question was answered by a number of experts and a jury after a fair trial. What would it take to convince you? Rudy Giuliani or Roger Stone weighing in?

thor66 04-23-2021 01:07 PM

his casual lack of concern indicated the depravity in his soul.

fintstone 04-23-2021 02:59 PM

What nonsense.

Nothing fair about it. They will go after the defense witnesses until the end of time (and they knew it as did the jurors).

Witnesses have been threatened and their homes vandalized. The Maryland ME that testified is having all his cases reviewed to try to find errors. Everyone that entered that room took a huge risk if they testified the "wrong" way or if the results were not as desired.

I know Minnesota abolished the death penalty back in the early 1900's, but maybe it could be reintroduced just for one day.

That would still not be enough for some. Maybe if they could do it and resuscitate him again each day before the daily looting/building burning.

Yeah, I knew he would have had prior (see my post 89). He's 5'9" so may have a bit of short man's complex going on. Plus he only weighs 70Kg so that means the hangman needs to drop him another couple of inches more.

pavulon 04-24-2021 05:12 PM

He's just misunderstood. The fine people on the other side said so.

WTF? You drunk when you wrote that?

flatbutt 04-25-2021 06:54 AM

If he did that there are likely others. He's never getting out of prison.

Relax and enjoy the demise of Dereck Chauvin. It all a big circus SmileWavy I bet you usually enjoy a good circus (may you call the circus the big top) I bet you go weak at the knees at the thought of the big top coming to town.

javadog 04-25-2021 12:14 PM

If you’ve never had to restrain an unruly, out of control person who was highly motivated to resist any measure of control imposed upon him, then I really don’t think you should criticize Chauvin and the other cops.

These guys are just trying to get to go home to their families at the end of the day.
