Protection using iso-cyanates.

I'm an occasional painter - garage style. I've done a few day classes, and painted a few panels.

But I'd like to use paints with hardeners, iso-cyanates in other words. And epoxy primers. I can paint outdoors so I don't need absolute protection.

What do you guys use or think of as being an acceptable minimum for an air feed respirator setup. I had been considering a second hand 3M Dustmaster and having the box upwind (or outside of the garage) and a longer air tube.

I like that idea. For occasional use, it'd probably be fine. I wouldn't clear an entire car with that setup, but for limited exposure etc you'd probably be ok. I'd mount the intake as high up as possible. I don't know how powerful the fan is, might have to upgrade to a higher cfm unit if the hose run gets long.

That is probably fine as long as you use the correct cartridge.

Also wear a Tyvek suit nd cover as much of your skin as possible.. isocyanates can penetrate your skin..
