I hate yard work. the cleaning, the bagging, the mulching...i'Um actually not good at it. I am the angel of death to all plantlife.

Around here...you don't worry about those things. Just dump the clippings in a pile in the corner of the yard....done.
Unless you have a mulching mower...then nothing else to do.

Environmentally safe green paint. You'll be the envy of the whole neighborhood! Buy two different shades and people will be like "Hey! WTF?"

When I bought my place, 30 years ago, the lawn was more yellow than green in the spring.
The dandelions were out of control.

After a few years of treating the entire lawn with Triplett...they are gone.
I still have to hand spray a few each year..but nothing compared to the way it was.

to be honest, your lawn looks spectacular.

it wouldn't make sense to hire someone to do something that big. how do you water it. big sprinklers spraying around?

^^^ No sprinklers...just rely on natural rainfall.
Most years, there is only a few weeks in the summer when the grass turns brown...but it comes back fast with the next rainfall.

I see several of my neighbors hiring the yard done and spending I have no idea what. Then the get in the car and go off to the gym to pay them to exercise.

I just exercise and get something productive done at the same time.

I put in my own sprinkler system. And we had a well dug just to water the yard. 220 1.5 HP pump down 200 feet in the 220 foot deep well. 18 GPM and the system is still working great for 22 years now.

I don't have a lawn, but I do have grasses. It needs to be cut down from its 12 to 16 in. height once a year for fire mitigation. Where I live, lawn type grasses don't do well, and everybody lets the natural grasses grow until they dry & need to be cut. If you don't do it, the Forest Service or CalFire sends a contractor out to do it & charges you for it.

oh..feel the pain.

my wife planted ornamental grasses. I cut them down every November. to do so, I wrap a leash around the base and pull it tight..then I clip it all down. they have this tiny grass-blade with sharp edges. that night any lotion I put on my face or arms will sting like the dickens.

When you said 'cutting the grass', I thought this was about below the belt hygiene.

Once the warmer spring rains come in....the moles will move in.
I'm ready for them. I have a strategy.

I'm not a fan.
It's just something else than needs to be done.
We have over an acre to mow. We do most of it with a 60" Grasshopper ZTR. I do the close-in work and the hillsides and MrsWD drives it in the open areas until it's finished or she runs out of gas, then I take over ( clean the mower up and put it away or put gas in it for her).
Meh...

If I have something interesting to do, or to build, or to make the time I spend on the mower seems wasted. It just pisses me off. It didn’t used to be like this, I used to like it. I just don’t anymore.

i hate yardwork. also lawns are dumb. grass is a terrible crop to grow basically anywhere in the USA.

i do somehow weirdly enjoy snow removal.
