I've often thought that would be a geat addition to school curriculum. Have a bunch of "old dudes" give high school guys (& maybe girls separately) presentations on life. I thought a "no holds barred," open discussion on life, education, mistakes, financial advice, treatment of other people, addressing life problems in general, etc. might be a great enrichment, especially for those who don't have regular, constructive discussion &advice from parents, family, & friends.

G'day!
|
Dated one of my dental assistants when I was in my 20's. She was single, no kids, good personality, pretty, and nice body.
Had a little 1 bedroom apartment right at the base of the north bridge here. One day after we had a date at the beach we went back to her place. She has a string bikini. I was a bit nervous so didn't take anything past kissing but this is one of those things that looking back I'm sure she would have enjoyed a full on romp that day. I know this sounds kinda trivial but it's always bugged me that I didn't know what I had when I had it. Same thing with selling my Italian delivery '73 911T about 10 years ago. Dumb dumb dumb.....I would like a do-over, please.....

I still remember a conversation I had with a school mate right after we graduated from high school. We had heard the graduation speech about how we were going to go and face the world, and we might have the basic education, we had a lot to learn about the world. My buddy was saying we were pretty smart and knew all we kneed to know to go be adults.
Dang, now know just how ignorant I was back then. After a lifetime of experience and I am still learning things all the time. There is simply no substitute for experience, and much experience comes from failure. So yea, there were some fun times growing up. In the 1970s before Aids, Hepatitis, Herpes in the era of free love was great as a single guy. The worst disease was fixed with a shot in the butt, and I never even needed that since I never paid for sex with a hooker. Life is far more than fun sex, and parties. Finding real friendship and then a wife of 29 years was way more important. I just wish I had met my wife 10 or 15 years before we ever did meet. If I can't keep my knowledge and experience and at least know to buy lots of Microsoft and Apple stock when it first hit the market I ain't going back. I don't want to be that ignorant again.

For me, I would go back to one afternoon, live that four hours and then return. Summer after my sophomore year in HS in Newbury Park, California. My Dad was named the Head of the Savannah River Nuclear Facility in South Carolina and I was headed there in August. That summer my friends and I played in a lot of Seven on Seven pass leagues, baseball summer leagues and just general dicking around. We also played a lot of Over the Line with the big Flintstones plastic bats (heavily modified with paper stuffed inside, tape, the works) and hit tennis balls. We played a tournament with all the boys a week before I left. We played in a Cul de Sac in West Lake. West Lake was about 10% built at this time. Here is a picture of the exact place. I stayed at the McKniff's house a bunch. ![]() We roade our motorcycles over from Newbury Park on Potrero Road through Hidden Valley, all two lanes, even around Lake Sherwood. Perfect summer day. I remember laying in the grass with my best friend, a Japanese guy, looking around at all the mirth and fun and knowing a chapter was closing. The Newbury Park boys rode back the same way we came, late afternoon in a summer in the coastal mountains. Effing magic. Give me that day again.

I think there's only one other thing that I'd like to do-over and that's studying for one particular test. I really didn't study much for it, and just missed passing it. I have still done well, but think that passing that test would have likely made some things better in the past 20 years. Of course, even if it was possible, going back and changing one decision or event in the past actually could lead to bad changes in the future. For instance, I didn't really know what I wanted to do, so I went to college. I didn't have the drive or interest to finish and I didn't. Would getting a degree have made my life more profitable sooner? Maybe/probably. Would I be making more than I am now? I don't think that's a certainty. Would my life have been very different and would I be happier? I think there's a very good chance that I may not be any happier and maybe less happy than I am now. I would have missed a lot of experiences and would probably be in a VERY different place than I am now. I might have been happier, but then I'm pretty happy, so I think there's a high possibility that I wouldn't be as happy.

I'd go back to the first two years in college. I think it was fun the first time but I'm not sure.

Going back and doing it the same again
![]() If I could change the time again, I'd go back to July 4yrs ago to the Sunday evening sitting on my couch watching TV when I thought I had bad heartburn but this time I'd call an ambulance. Would have saved my wife and kids the trauma of seeing me dead ![]() If I couldn't change anything then I'd go back to my early 20's and spend another summer in Mexico working as a snorkeling instructor at a Club Med ![]() ![]()

F me running. I drove Kelly road when it was dirt in the 60's and 70's...Lynn Road was still dirt.
Kelly Road was the way to our small ranch, all dirt roads. There was a Hell's Angels guy at the big bend in Kelly...nicest guy in the world. I drove it a million times. I used to park our old El Camino at the house just above Borchard and ride to school. The picture below is the old place. There were no houses, none, around us. That and all dirt roads. F'ing 17 acres of paradise. ![]() Our house was in the lower right. Again, no houses around us. I went back a few years ago with a HS buddy of mine and the owners let us in! Amazing how little had changed. Great house. Wow. Memories. Did I say dirt roads enough ![]()

Your old house is south of my mom's across Lynn. They changed the street name to La Cam Road a few years back. Maybe after a old resident?
Everything is paved now. My moms house is just north of the bend. The corner of Borchard and Kelly is now a Krishna Temple. Really nice family, they do a lot for the NP community. My experience living here is mostly from the 80s and 90's although I ended up going to TOHS when my parents split and dad moved off Arboles. Spent a LOT of time riding dirt bikes behind Talley's even after they shut down. Even then it was a lot more free. The cops (on four strokes) didnt care if we were riding as long as we had safety gear. Here's my younger brother and I sometime in the 80s back behind Talley's. You cant really see it, but the 101 freeway is just along the bottom of the mountains with the Conejo grade just out of frame to the left. ![]()
