If had one specific wish...
Say a genie gave you one wish, and that wish could only be to go back in time to some part of your life. You wouldn't remember your older self. It's just going back to a certain time in your life and starting it all over again.
For me, it would be the day when, at age 18, I got into my new '78 VW Scirocco, loaded up with clothes and a stereo and, after waving so long to the folks, slipped a Grateful Dead bootleg into the cassette player, turned up the volume, and headed down US Highway 101 to UC Santa Barbara, my long blonde hair blowing in the warm breeze. That's when the real fun began!

I'd a hell of a good time around the age of 28. Maybe a late starter, but I sure had a good time.

Me too Bill.
Not that I started late, but once you get over the 27 club curse it all starts to come together for a while. Until you have kids or other responsibilities. Then the clock starts again.

One wish is all I'd need. I'd wish that everything I wished came true.

I would go back to the first hour I met MrsWD and go all in with her immediately. I wasted 10 years believing I didn’t want a woman in my life full time. It would be great do that 10 years over.

I would go back to 23 years old, newly married (32 years so far), both of us were fit, and horny, and spent every weekend on the water with our boat.

I'd go back to when I got my first BJ. Absolutely, no doubt what so ever.

Rewind and replay exactly the same?
No desire to do that, unless I had the the knowledge to change outcomes, or buy apple stock.

I'd probably go back to when I was 15 years old and was sailing a Hobie 14 all around Choctawhatchee Bay and the bayous around Niceville, Florida. Can't believe my parents trusted me to go off with a friend and stay out on the water all day, just had to be back at the launch site by dark. Sometimes we didn't quite make it, but hey, we all survived!!! Lol.

Right, if I wasn't going back with any extra/new knowledge and was just going to replay things, while I don't have any time in my life that I remember hating, and I probably wouldn't mind doing it over again, I don't have anything that I would rather be doing than what I'm doing now.
If the proposition was that I'd get to take some knowledge back and see how things turned out differently, that's a different kettle of fish. THere are some things that I'd like to be a little different, but then I'd be concerned that going back like that with the idea of changing a bunch of stuff would take me to someplace different than where I am now, and I can't guaranty that would be better. I guess I'm just not a gambler. I fold and I'm out. I'll leave this game with my current winnings.

nDo it all over again, takig no knowledge with me? There would be no point to that. Besides, there were a few times that I probably should have died/ been arrested/ not turned out so well. I'd just risk being in a worse position, so no.

Let's just say I'm glad this isn't possible.
But I did have a pretty good time about 12 years ago when my wife and I did a 'lap around California'. I think we rushed it a bit but I revisited a lot and showed her a lot of what she'd never seen. Up one side of the state and down the other. I'd rather do that again than go to Europe or any other country. Even states, of which I've been to many. |

If I could not take my knowledge with me to avoid some mistakes, I am not sure I would bother. Back in my youth I worked my butt off much of it with two jobs, one full time and one on Saturdays and occasional Saturday nights and Sundays.
Yea, it would be nice to be 21 again, but not if I was the same ignorant guy I was back then. Yea, I had some great times, but most of that was in brief periods between a lot of work, and times of struggling to pay the mortgage. I really like my current situation of money in the bank, and no debt at all.

Why is it we can't tell all the youngins about the knowledge we've gained along the way. Wouldn't it be great if they could just go to the bank of knowledge and take out a loan?

1. Who's to say we haven't already gone back any number of times to 'do it all again' ?
This could be the 2nd or 3rd or 500,000th time we've made this trip. 2. Unless I'm aware that I've gone back, and my synapses are firing quicker when opportunities arise and I'm doing all the things that I wished I had back in the day, then what's the point? We all remember the good times but there's heartbreaks and regrets that need to be lived. There's some of those that I'd just as soon keep buried, and not have to relive. (But it's a good question, fun to ponder.)
