When you don't check your tenant's references...

Sometimes the shoe is on the other foot. We should have checked the landlords credentials. She was in her 80's, her maintenance guy was upper 70's. He farmed things out a few times, but that wasn't going very well. I ended up doing all the electrical, plumbing, a/c stuff myself, and charging them.

I've only rented twice (outside of the 2nd family home, 4 brothers lived together), first was an apartment, second a duplex. I one day told the apartment people what went wrong when the a/c went out. I suggested they bring a new fan motor for the condenser, and I'll fix it. A day later it was fixed. Come on man! Take the motor off an empty unit and hook me up! They're all the same a/c units.

I prefer saying tenant and dad, when referring to when I lived with my brothers.
