New Router...

Went to the Xfinity store yesterday and picked up a newer router/modem. They are good about letting you change to a newer model..for no charge.
In the install, the new one wouldn't accept my ssid or password from the old one....too weak.
That meant that my computers, phone, cameras, and printer all needed to be reset.

After 3 phone calls and a full afternoon of headaches....I'm finished.

I think it works with my turtle cam better.
click on the speaker first....then the full screen.

Garage
Every time I open one of these threads I'm expecting to see a Porter Cable 690 and some type of woodworking project....

^^^ Nope..but I'm sure they are easier to setup than an internet router.

Working well. Do you have any trouble with birds trying to catch the goldfish?

I have mesh over my pond. Plus a bird would be mad to hang around my place too much. Two cats, both armed with a .45.

^^^ Never any problems with birds...maybe that plastic hawk (above the feeding platform) helps.

Stray cats and raccoons will try to get them.

One eve, I looked out and a cat was sitting on the edge trying to get one...pawing into the water.
I thought I would try to scare it away.
I slowly walked up onto the deck...the cat was too intent on the fish to notice.
When about ten feet away, I made a lot of noise and ran toward it. The cat jumped straight up and landed right into the pond!
It couldn't get out because of the overhang that I built to keep the turtles in.

It was splashing around frantically...I grabbed it by the scruff and threw it over the deck railing.
Last I ever saw of that cat!

I don't know about xfinity, but for comcast I found the payoff for buying the cable modem from a store vs renting from comcast to pay off n less than a year.

Make sure your xfinity router isn't open to xfinity customers. Comcast used to keep opening a public access point on the router at my house.

^^^
Here..Comcast is Xfinity.
I know what you are saying about renting vs buying another brand...much cheaper. The setup...I heard, is more challenging than what I did. I would have to pay someone to set it up. This one was enough to make me quit and call someone.

As far as a hot-spot....It wouldn't happen where I live. No neighbors with wi-fi within a half mile.

I'll play. New table saw.
I needed to rip 2x4s (mortise/tenon with a groove) and make a picture frame to attach to the back deck arbor. I like my neighbors but don't want to look into their houses. The 32"W x 48"H decorative panels will go inside. I spaced out on panel dimensions when ordering those in person; maybe I'd been looking at too many of the smaller 24"W x 32"H panels online. The end result will be a tighter fit and a different look than what I originally wanted.
Oh well.
This thing rolls around and folds flat to store in my New Yankee Workshop garage. NOT! It cost $325 versus the $600 similar styles and will be used only for occasional use. That yellow paint brand says "steal me" anyways. Almost all of the store floor models were broken in some way, and even the pricey ones were somewhat rickety and wouldn't lock the fence down or adjust easily. You have to try it out like you are using it. Neither store had Porter Cable/Rigid/Ryobi/other brands. Selection was poor.

Wow, did you borrow Byron's old camera? That is the worst photo I have seen posted on the site in a long time. Most cell phone do a pretty good job. Do you have a flip phone?

Oh zip it. It looks perfectly fine to my eyeballs. What would you know about photography anyways.

It probably needs a lens and range sensor cleaning again. About 1 in 10 are still perfect.
The CVS cleaner-wipes delaminated a pair of cheapo Walmart sunglasses.

I did buy a new cheapo camera and then found out it required online registration through social media to even work. Not happening.
Before plunking down $500-900 on a DLSR (plus trailer to move it around) I need to research a bit more.
I like the Canon company but Olympic and Nikon also look viable.

Camera's fine.

The Kobalt model 1303497 is the 'out of focus' tablesaw, hence the savings. The Kobalt 'in focus' tablesaw = $200 more.

Best to keep your fingers very far from the blades on these blurry models. Don't expect precision cuts either!

I have several cameras and they all sit at home. I take my iPhone 11 Pro with me and it is a simply amazing camera. It blows me away on a regular basis.

Wake up phone, open camera app, punch wide angle lens option. Frame and snap. With a DSLR it would take changing lenses, and some exposure setup to get detail in the shadows of the car and detail in the clouds. In the olden days of film, the side of my car would be just grainy no detail almost too dark to see anything and most of the sky would be blown out. That image is with ZERO Photoshop work, except to lower the resolution so I can upload the image. Right from the camera the image is too high resolution and too big for Pelican.

Leaky I'll PM where you can send my new keyboard. Damn that's funny.

Hey I did make a cabinet (1/16-1/8" variance corner-to-corner) using a wobbly circular saw.
My life's goal is removing "close don't count" from the dictionary.

Sorry for the thread hijack Steve.
Glad you got that worked out.
Many people still are using "password 123" and the factory settings.
One of my neighbors wifi uses the ID "NSA overwatch site". (shiver)

No problem at all...free bump!
I would have liked to use no password at all...the signal never makes it out of my property. But I know that wouldn't work for most.
