Anyone here try Orangetheory Fitness?

High Intensity Interval Training. I joined Nov 6th and have been hitting it pretty hard. Have dropped 30 lbs in 3 mos. Never thought I would enjoy a class environment but its very addictive. Have HBP and High Cholesterol and High Tri's and hoping to get off the meds. Had labs done last week - anxious to see the results.

Started eating healthy as well so no posts on the What's for Dinner thread lately. I do miss that

No idea, drive by one every time I go to the hospital though. They have a groovy, shortened wheelbase VW bus parked out front with their name on the side.

Just checking back in. I'm still at it coming up on my first anniversary with Orangetheory working out 5 days a week. Started with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, obstructive sleep apnea and a wardrobe that I'd outgrown. Labs now normal and I no longer snore if I don't use the CPAP (still using it until I go for an updated sleep study). Down a total of 30lbs and 5 inches in my waist. Feeling great! Turning 60 next summer.

Wow, great results. My wife is at as a class as I type.

Bit pricey for both of us to join but seems like results are there if you stick to it.

The disappointing reality is that the exercise is only 20% of the equation and it is the easiest part. The harder 80% is what you eat/drink.

Great work, you looked like a beached whale in 2016.

I felt like a beached whale too! Nothing really drastic on the diet changes. All common sense things. Try and focus on lean proteins (fish and chicken vs burgers and steaks), watch carbs and fats. Avoid added sugar and watch portions (no more seconds).

Wow! Curious: Did it change your BP or Cholesterol enough to come off the meds?

I just started OT 2 weeks ago. I have not lost weight but lost 1 inch off my waist, so I'm happy. Muscle is building up.

[QUOTE=PorscheGAL;10785260]Wow! Curious: Did it change your BP or Cholesterol enough to come off the meds?

Unfortunately no but not sure that's a bad thing. My cardiologist has stated that today's statins and BP meds are so good and not to be concerned with long-term use. I'm on and always have been on low doses (i.e. 20mg) of Simvastatin and Lisinopril.

Not on meds at the beginning of my journey and not watching my diet, my total cholesterol was 254 (LDL 168 HDL 35) and my triglycerides were 253 - Not Good. BP was 150/90

Today with OTF (6 days/week) and on meds I'm at total cholesterol of 142 (LDL 82 HDL 47). Tri's are down to 63 and BP is 128/72

No more snoring without the CPAP but I sleep so good with it that I'm staying on it. Latest sleep study showed apnea. Was obviously much with the excess weight. Waist has gone from 38-40 to 34.

Well, I lost some momentum due to COVID but happy to report after staring back on April 7th I am now 8 classes short of 1,000. Hard to believe!

A good friend of mine owns a OT franchise... not a great business to be in during Covid. OT holds all the cards if they fold, they HAVE to spend $x monthly on advertising, it’s a racket. That being said, as a customer, it is probably the best gym membership to have if you are committed.
