I was in Baghdad a couple years ago and wandered the city on foot for several days. I experienced the same... people would not take my money. I was in a small shop once getting some potato chips and the lady who owned the place, after asking where I was from and I responded "America", wanted to give me everything in the shop for free, started crying and told me "I love you" repeatedly. They are so thankful for toppling their brutal dictator. Things are not great there now, and they are struggling, but its worlds better than before.

This gal is as fearless as they come. She is a modern day adventurer much like Amelia Earhart. Traveling on a motorcycle through western Africa, suffering dysentery half the time on local food, blows out her collarbone in a fall. Then the Dutch MDs patching her collarbone slip up with the drill and puncture her lung, now she is riding again through war-torn Kurdistan province. Sheesh! The sheer determination she has is mind blowing.

Just watched Wednesdays episode....She said she was going to skip any roads off the main highways because of possible problems.
So, what does she do?....she takes the first unused and broken-up road she finds near that canyon. :)
