innocent words that need better PR.

haha..i was talking to some co-workers. someone said the word RETARD. some lady said, "you cant use that word!!" true, in some context it might not be the best choice.

"should you retard the mix?" (we were discussing the delivery of cement-mix to a distant jobsite)

she only heard the word. innocent enough. i didnt get butt-hurt. i'm glad she left before we started talking about our ERECTION plan.

any other words?

blacklist/whitelist
master/slave
black hat / white hat (hackers)
man hours
master branch

These are all pretty common in the IT world, and are now, apparently, not in favor.

thanks to awful PR, now we have to use more words just to say, "bundle of sticks bound together with twine to be used as fuel". now if there was only a single word we could have used for that.

Anyone that has ever set the timing of the distributor has had to advance and retard the timing to get it set to the manufacturers specified setting.

I still have my timing light I bought in 1971 for setting the initial timing on my El Camino if I pull the distributor.

Around here bum can mean a beggar on the street. Can also be used as asking for something for free. I once heard "Do you mind if I bum a fag." when a guy was asking for a cigarette LOL

Lots of others, many of which have already been noted.

In the case of your word, Vash, it's all about pronunciation ...

Years ago ... back when FL banned smoking inside the workplace, a guy (former Navy methinks) stated he was going outside to "suck a duck"... I've never heard it since.... well, at least he didn't use the F word

There are no innocent words, the left hears what it wants to hear.

I've tried to find a clip of her show, but can't. Years ago, I saw a special for a hilarious black female comedian. One of her bits, was that to fix the "N" word, we needed to change the association of that word to something positive. Her proposal was to apply the name to potato chips because everyone loves potato chips. I really wish I could find it, it was hilarious.
