Parts Heaven closing
End of an era in the Bay area, first Easy, now Parts Heaven. Can't think of any other places in the bay to go and pick up parts.

What happens to all the inventory..?
That’s too bad, I’ve bought some second hand parts from them over the years.

Wondering if this will be an increasing trend since the supply of older cars and parts will be steadily decreasing over time.

According to someone local on the 'other site', the owner said everything that is left will be trashed. Apparently they've already been trashing inventory in prep for the closing.

It was originally
Porscheaven... the lawyers from Germany called them one day; said they could not use Porsche in their name. So they changed to Parts Heaven... Sorry to see them go... |

IIRC, they were defunct for awhile and came back from the nearly dead. I bought from them too in the mid 2000's. Good service. Too bad.
On another note, when long time parts hoarder Chip Evaul died, his wife sold the lot to dC Automotive in N. Carolina. They were at the time running an 18 wheeler on a large lap around the 48 picking up parts. ![]() |

Sorry to hear that, bought my last case of oil from them.
I really like that place. I always enjoyed the annual swap meet that ended as well a while back. |

Yep, a shame. Diminishes our options for good used parts when stuff is NLA or outrageously priced.
Brian at Einmalig informed me that PH was closing and that he and some others were looking at the PH inventory. Soo.. these parts may not be lost to us.

High integrity outfit - too bad.
Held a Carrera intake and heads for me while I drove up from LosAngeles - on my word. Had another buyer inquire and told them I was driving up. Drove up, bought the stuff -- was impressed with them. Too bad

I know someone will be buying a portion of parts from them. he and I talked about the future of their business. I am told that many of the knowledgeable owners are getting out while they can, sell off what they have and make a few bucks before the youngsters ruin the business. the reproduction parts are so good now at a fraction of the pricing of the original is the other reason.

"before the youngsters ruin the business"
Because they are not car people but social media people? Or, because younger family members will be taking over in the future? Or, a combination of both?

We had a local Porsche salvage yard. Oklahoma Foreign. They were doing OK, until the state came along and decided their property was right where the off ramp for a new Interstate off ramp should be. The state condemned is with eminent domain, and made them shut down. They sold a lot of parts off cheap, and the rest of the 356 and 911 chassis they had were shipped to a buyer in Mexico. It is just a grassy field now and the state has yet to even design an off ramp for the land.

That would be fun as hell to get one hour to run through there with a shopping cart to pick whatever you wanted.
Edit- change hour to day. change shopping cart to trailer. My first comment would be torture. |

Its a different business mind set, that's all. It's not media or car people, just different. Its not good or bad but that's just the way they see it. he claims the knowledge base isn't completely there, yet. It takes years to learn the business and what works and what doesn't.

I live near the former location of PH and had been their customers since 1991. I have considered the owner and employees as friends for the entire time. I can remember when some of the former owner's children were still in strollers. Time marches on!
Sorry to see them close. I know that some inventory was bought by other Porsche businesses (like shops) and some by individuals. One of the businesses is Engine Builder's Supply up in Sparks/Reno. EBS are also 20+ year friends, and friends of the owner and employees at PH throughout the years. I am not sure of EBS' status with the Pandemic situation. Likely an e-mail or phone call by those interested can reveal their status. Folks should realize that many of the historically active Porsche dismantling businesses here in the US have faced a steady decrease in the availability of economically viable air-cooled cars to support used parts inventory. The progression of baby boomers desiring 911's and the booming economy have had a lot to do with that. As for water-cooled stuff, I know for sure that PH had a bunch of 944 and Boxster inventory, and of course were likely leaders with water-cooled 911 cars as well. Not sure how the economic viability of those types of cars compared to the air-cooled world. I miss PH. And will always be greatful to the owner and the folks I have met that worked there through the years.
