What is the best super glue regarding the second use of the container? Seems like every time I get one, the second time I go to use it (some time later) it’s dried up and unusable. Most recent try was Gorilla glue super glue. Sometimes I can poke a pin through the spout and get it to work but usually it’s trash.

5. Request the late check-out.

2. Don’t enter a pool by the stairs.
why not?
Ok a splash bomb is more fun, and a sumersault more impressive, but why not the stairs ?

Although this list may be somewhat dated, you might consider the sports coat one under the idea that "the clothes make the man". Waking into a room with a sports coat over a casual shirt makes a statement about you. Not everyone may agree with your interpretation, but trying to please everyone is a zero sum.

Late check out gives you options. Maybe you want to get up and at it. Maybe you have different plans.

Diving into the pool may be interpreted as a metaphor for life. Commit to what you do.

Australian rules referees perhaps? :D

You may get a grin out of this. When I was in England's Brighton Beach for the very first time and my very thin jacket was no match for the weather I was offered a woolly jumper. Apparently the look of confusion on my face was enough to cause great laughter and a very kind lesson on the differences between the Queen's English and the gutter speak of Americans. SmileWavy

Did anyone offer to "knock you up in the morning "?
Also, offering to " meet someone at their convenience " is another knee slapper.
If a Limey lady asks you, "Are you thick?" She is not enquiring about your package.

Gotta love language.

A decade ago, our county council decided we needed a slogan for our signs and letter head. Because of the 400 years of European settlement in this area and the rural vibe, they chose:" Naturally rooted"
I can guarantee they did not consult with anyone from Australia.

A woman there did ask me to knock her up. I was clever enough to know that was not an offer of carnal congress.:D

Bless your cotton socks was another one that made me giggle, silently of course.

Last October I bought a '89 VW Golf Cabriolet. It needed seats recovered and a parking dent in the hood attended to. I gave my wife the main key and used the spare and only noticed the other day the spare would not go into either the door lock nor the trunk. Upon close inspection I saw whoever cut the spare used the wrong blank. It had an extra rib. 15 minutes of careful file work eliminated the rib and now it works. I suspect it worked in the ignition because of wear in the tumblers.
Got to laugh.

Celtics? Not so fast.
Most folks think of Scots as Celts. Indeed, in the southwestern part of the country, that would be a safe bet.
While I was working in tourism, I had a few instances when I was talking with people I assumed were from northern Europe only to find out they hailed from the north eastern part of Scotland. I was puzzled by my erring ear until I read an article on the Doric influence in that part of the country. I was indeed hearing northern European sounds, just 15 generations removed. Hold-overs from the time the Norse ruled that area.
I shouldn't have been surprised. If your family came from Yorkshire, chances are your DNA is heavily Scandinavian.
Sometimes you just have to trust your ears.

To quote my former boss, he "took early retirement" at age 92. He retired from the FAA with a three digit employee number and started there when it was a CAA. He was a pilot, and loved flying himself on aerial photography missions. He loved do that until the day he turn 90, and no insurance company on the planet would insure him to work as a a commercial pilot. It is required to be a commercial pilot to make a living, flying and taking pictures. All his fun was gone, and he started looked for a buyer of the company and that took two years to find the right folks. He took his last flight in his airplane as pilot in command on his 92nd birthday, parked it in the hangar, and put it up for sale.

He was super sharp mentally, and did not use a cane and the only medication he took was one baby aspirin per day, and some vitamins.

At age 99, he kissed his wife goodnight, and walked upstairs to go to bed. She finished some move and went upstairs and found him dead. No nursing homes, no long hospital stay, sharp as a tack until the end. For him, owning the business, he said several times he could just lock the door and close up whenever he wanted. He kept the business open to give us jobs.

oldE 04-07-2022 01:20 PM

If you are talking about the people, the C has a hard sound. The Celts seemed to originate in Normandy and populated the western bits of the British Isles. Probably more than that until the Romans displaced them.

That lady who retired at the age of 100 would be described as a heritage interpreter. I did that for 10 years and loved almost every minute of. I could see doing it some more. I got to talk with folks from all around the world.
