If anyone has a spare grand or two, could you send it my way?
I'll let you come over, sit in it and make "Vroom Vroom" noises.

Amazing. It would be very amazing to own as a piece of history, but probably more of a PITA than one of the production cars if you really wanted to drive it. And I would really want to drive it unless I was like Seinfeld or Leno and just had a huge collection. To me they are not as timeless aesthetically as the 911 and 930.

An "Army Tactical Brassiere," designed to give female soldiers enhanced protection and performance, is currently being tested at the Army's Combat Capabilities Development Command Soldier Center (DEVCOM). A prototype team expects to present an initial evaluation of the product to the Army Uniform Board this fall, reported Army Times.

Supposedly there is even a new MOS to support it. 69Houdini, Army Tactical Brassiere Crewmember.

I wonder if any of that research could result in a better jockstrap?

flatbutt 08-17-2022 05:06 AM

I just heard a ridiculous ad

A streaming service just ran an advert for NYC Broadway theatre business. An actress says " you wouldn't expect a doctor to go get a job waiting tables why are we any different?". Wow.

Really? Actress = Doctor in terms of critical function?

I'd love to look her in the eye and say something like "you're different because while I support the Arts, no dancer or singer ever helped me solve a medical issue. We all can live without you".

Sir. She was acting.

But yes, I'd love to know who came up with that. Whatever, if they can sell it to someone, more power to 'em. (I'm assuming they were asking for money). As Barnum said, there's one born every minute.

masraum 08-18-2022 06:45 AM

How in the hell did she get access to an AR? I didn't watch the video, but normally people are put in the back of the car in cuffs. I'm not a cop, but based on things that I've seen, normally, there's a partition between the back and the front. And normally, weapons are kept in the front (other side of partition) or trunk.

My 8 year old grand daughter was playing around on her play set and while hanging upside-down on the ladder, advised she was stuck.
I suggested she might have to stay there all night, to which she asked, "What will you do about the carcasses?"
"What carcasses?"
"The carcasses of the coyotes who die laughing when they see me." She camly replied.
I helped her down.

OOf! This'll tighten your colon.

https://turbofuture.com/news/military-us-navy-e2-hawkeye-attempts-aircraft-carrier-landing-but-cable-snaps-and-pilot-reacts

I'm amazed that the pilot had enough height to recover from that. I'm told that the landings are full throttle but does that translate to enough airspeed?

ooh, Crew of 5 and noooooo ejection seats on that E2
I bet they were in need of fresh underpants after that

I think that’s a year or two old, but still very interesting.

My BFF is coming in from Kauai via Frisco today. I'm tracking her flight and UA reported that the flight left 3 minutes early, but it's been on taxi for 30 minutes!

So, leaving the gate on time is the metric for performance?

svandamme 09-01-2022 11:08 PM

it is "a" metric
Closing boarding, and pushback is one thing
actual wheels off the ground another
as is touching down safely
at the right destination
on time

Data systems can only report metrics that happened already.

What you see
is not what the people see who are doing the performance metric business.

you get public FYI
and that is just a small part of the story..its For YOUR Information
its not For Airline Performance Metrics

good info, thanks.

svandamme 09-02-2022 06:39 AM

its not inside info, just general how metrics work

its like the postal service, the tracking page they show you has some statusses FYI
it does not show everything they know..
especially when international it passes through so many hands and companies

they just forward on the stuff they want you to know, not every scan or databit will be on your tracking.. Some will tell more then others.

But the key important bit is.. its on a need to know basis, and for a lot of it, you don't need to know

I only knew of it because my older cousin had it on her tape player. Late 60's. Artist lived in the UK but came from Jamaica.

I hear it every once in a great while.

Who knew candles could be so profitable?

Michael Kittredge's son put the Yankee Candle founder's Massachusetts estate up for sale on Thursday.
The compound, which features an indoor water park and bowling alley, is listed for $23 million.
The sprawling estate encompasses 120,000 square feet of living space, including eight structures.

It's crazy. It seems like it was an American institution, but it's only been around 130 years which is not that long in the grand scheme of things. It's hard to imagine the world without Sears, but it's practically been like that for what, 10-20 years now?

It seems like it used to be easy to go buy major appliances. You could run down to the local mall and browse 2-4 stores (Sears, Mont. Wards, etc...) that had huge selection and lots of stuff in stock. I don't think you can do that any more. There's Best Buy, but I've never had good luck there, and they have a sheiße reputation. I think there are a few other places, Macy's, Costco, Sam's, Walmart, but those are all going to be spread out and, I think, have a much smaller selection or maybe I'm wrong.

The world is a vastly different place than it was 30, 40, 50 years ago.
