AVG and MCafee figured out about the Tabs.buffet virus that lives here.
It corrupts many things

Just turned off my Avast web shield

They did something to the forums, at least for me. For whatever reason, for years now I can only see the forums logged in using my 911 Classifieds bookmark. If I get an email with, say, an OT or Technical new post, I first have to click on my Classifieds bookmark to be able to see the emailed new post logged in. Annoying but fine.

My Classifieds still works. I click and I'm logged in. But now when I clicked a new post link in an email for the Dinner thread, I see it not logged in.

So someone has changed the forum programming again. Joy.

No problem here.

When the NSA puts monitoring software on your computer(s) it's supposed to be transparent. Don't worry, sure they will fix it soon.

Avast is blocking all PP forums. Bitdefender doesn't mind.
The real question is
Has Pelican been INFECTED? Have we heard from any of the mods?

Doubt anything changed at all on the website

it's just Avast that for some reason flagged it in a category of phishing

best for Pelicnaparts admins to engage in conversation with Avast to figure that out
and then make changes to prevent flagging and reoccurrence

With Avast turned off I have new problems so I think it's something they changed. This sort of thing has been happening for years, even when Wayne was managing the programming of the forums.

(layman guess here)
Linking external photos and videos into pages is great for reducing server costs, but are a potential threat to the filters.
Especially the dynamic ones.
Perhaps that is what is tripping the Avast AV software?

I've had a large number of pic8.co photos blocked by NoScript ABE.
Blocking unnecessary scripts is like a cheap lock on a door and keeps the idiots out.
(not sure if that site links their content)
I turned that off and then Malwarebytes blocked the same thing. That means it was probably real. Better to be safe..

PP is a website for selling auto parts. The social forums are a gift. I try to keep that in mind.

I'm guessing free anti virus you get what you pays.

As to viruses in the wild, I truly believe it's the ashholes that sell protection make the viruses. They should all be hung and quartered.
