The Carbon Fiber option:

Maybe I'm late to the game but this was the first time I'd seen this:

You know, the car looks high tech, and I bet it hauls mail, but I would get tired of the denim jean look, and the price to fix a cracked panel would be pretty expensive...

I got to see a Regerra up close and have to say pictures don’t do it justice. It’s like the carbon above but painted red but you can see the weave through the colour, stunning.

There was a Pagani at a Cars and Coffee in Dallas in 2019. The workmanship on the carbon fiber was incredible. Unfortunately the owner’s son wrecked it a year later.

I understand the cool factor of showing off the carbon fiber. I would get tired of that fast.

We took a tour of the Dallara Indy car factory a coupe of weeks ago. They make ALL the Indy cars now, and several of the LMP cars and they don't brag much about it, but they also built the HAAS F1 cars. They know Carbon firer.

Cool facility.

It is never going to be a decision I have to make, to paint my carbon fiber car or leave it exposed.

Imagine an RV trailer, instead of molded fiberglass, Carbon Fiber

SUN WILL KILL [break down the resin ] the carbon like fiberglass donot breakdown from
U-V LIGHT but the epoxy sure does and polyester is worse weaker and breaks down faster

they don't care about race cars as they do not stay outside every day for years

btw boats use small carbon parts even if the whole boat hull is oldstyle fiberglass
and they quickly noticed the effects of U-V on the clear carbon parts

A friend of mine works on the body-in-white (body-in-black?!) at McLaren. I'll pass on the compliments. The hingeless spoilers on the Speedtail was his baby. As Captain knows, it's not hard to do, as long as your Italian supplier respects the ply boundaries specified in the drawing

Been to a different Italian composite supplier who makes the Pagani front clamshells. Rejection rate of 66% - that's what you're paying for - mostly due to the visual quality requirements. We don't care about visuals so much on race cars and the twill direction rarely matters (for balanced weave), but it is nice when the laminators go the extra mile to do the herringbone correctly.

I now own a carbon fiber mountain bike (Trek Top Fuel 9.7). It's worth it . . .
